Tiger-Cats have stated publicly that they are holding approximately 2000 to 3000 seats back for The Guelph community, so sure there is seats available !
Don't wait too long to get your seats. "Gold Jerry, it's Gold"
Another positive about Guelph is its proximity to K-W which Google says in a 24 minute or so drive. They're a much more substantial market and hopefully there'll be plenty first time/new K-W fans that will be exposed to the TiCats and CFL in 2013.
I think it would be a good idea designate one of the home games as a special "Kitchener-Waterloo day"
Great idea Captain about the K-W day. Also, I know I can't make the Sept. 28th game, nephew's wedding so any takers for a pair of free tickets for that game, first pm I receive these are yours.
Chalk me up as a KW area person that has ponied up for TiCat seasons already. I have not decided if I will pretend to be a TiCats game after the home opener yet.
But what happens if more than expected season ticket holders renew and they don’t have 2 or 3,000?
If the capacity is going to be 15,000 are they assuming that the renewal will be 12,000?
Are they saying that you won’t be able to go on-line and order tickets because ALL 3,000 tickets available have to go to people from Guelph? how would they manage that?
If I go on-line to order a ticket through Ticketmaster am I going to be asked if I’m a Guelph resident? what happens if they turn away people who are non-residents and people from Guelph don’t buy tickets. Are the Ticats stuck with 3,000 tickets.
It just doesn’t make sense.
You said “The Tiger-Cats stated publicily” do you have a link?
They must have a pretty good handle on how many people are going to renew for 2013. Initially they expected 2/3 of 10,000, so that's 6,500.
Not sure how that's played out since that statement, but the 3,000 number is a relatively new one and I'd think they know what they're doing this far along into 2013.
Although the temporary redesign of Alumni Stadium is not yet complete, it is expected to hold roughly 14,000 fans for the nine home games the Tiger-Cats will play there this summer.
Around 3,000 of those seats will be reserved for Guelph residents.
Ticats Director of Ticket Sales and Service Gerry Fonzo said Guelph fans wanting to put down deposits on a season ticket can call the team’s ticket office now. Prices will range from roughly $300 to $835.
Single game tickets are expected to go on sale mid-May.
Okay! thanks for that. I assume that they are expecting a lot of non-renewals of Ticat season ticket holders.
And I would guess that the 3,000 reserved for Guelph residents will be held until the single game tickets go on-sale mid-May. I don’t think the would hang on to 3,000 tickets and hold them back for too long.
If 6,500 full STH renew---- then one adds in the flex packs and 5 packs and whatever else is offered , then add in corporate renewals , then add in NEW STH (which I am one of those ) from inside and outside of Hamilton who want to be in Guelph and also want to get their foot in the door for the new stadium .-------I just don’t see that there is going to be a lot of tickets left for walkup’s in a 13000-15000 seat stadium.—I also believe that the 3000 tickets set aside for Guelph residents will have a cut off date , once that date passes those tickets will be available to the general public.
I didn’t realize there were only 10,000 season ticket holders in Hamilton, that’s pretty low. I thought it was much higher, around 15k. If you consider that most season ticket holders are a couple or family that is only around 4,000 in the Hamilton area. So if it’s 6,000 that renew, that’s only about 3,000 driving to the stadium (assuming 2 per car).
But using your figures of 3000 cars, that's going to be a horrible commute I would think. Someone on here did a calculation using average length of a car and average spacing between cars and came up with something like a 30km line if everyone went at once.
For that reason I am waiting to here about busing to the games (from Brantford). I have my deposit in but that will probably determine if I purchase tickets.
Unless anyone has good ideas for an easy way to get to Guelph from Brantford and avoid traffic?
I hope you realize not all Ticat fans are from Hamilton. We are spread all across Ontario and the volume of fans traveling to games will have a number of routes to and from the stadium. The buses I hear they will be running will significantly cut down the vehicles making their way to Alumni Stadium. My major worry is with the parking, I hope they will have enough for all the season seat holder's, as well as the massive buses of fans.
We will have approximately 2000 parking spots, located within the closest proximity to the stadium, on reserve for any interested Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan. These spots will guarantee you reserved parking at the games and will be available to purchase on the full season basis or a game-by-game basis. Other parking throughout the University of Guelph will be subject to availability.
You’re right there will be busing available. We will have various pick and drop off locations for our 52 passenger Coach Canada buses. The number of buses will match the demand from our fans. There will be a nominal cost attached to your round-trip. Exact details will be coming your way shortly!
There is still over 3 months until the Regular Season, people tend to procrastinate. So having that many season tickets renewed is Awesome !! especially with what is going on with Guelph and the schedule. Now that the schedule is out, and the 5 game pack is available, tickets will go fast !!
I would suggest not waiting to long to get your tickets, 3 and a half months will be here before you no it
Parking will not be an issue. U of Guelph has several lots off College Avenue (north end of campus) as well as off Stone Road (south end). Given that all games are weekend, there will be lots of available spots.
More importantly, will any of these parking lots be conducive to barbequing, cornhole and an adult beverage or two? If the City of Guelph were smart they would be facilitating this type of thing in an effort to look like a fun and welcoming place for a national audience. Unfortunately I don't think the university will be super cool with drinking in campus parking lots.
