So, What is this "Major Announcement" on Friday?

Kevin Riley would be thrilled that the league used one of his ideas!
Next up - company logos across the front of the jerseys. You know, like in MLS.

Maybe its just BMO moving its sponsorship from MLS to the CFL

or the Federal government is willing to pony up a full subsidy to build the Argos a domed year round use football specific stadium (with all the bells and whistles of course) just down the road from BMO at the old Ontario Place.

...and to be used for Grey Cups/INT Rugby/NHL Winter Classics etc etc due to it's weather controlled environment...

oh, the glee!

At first I thought, the Argo announcement. But then I was thinking that the CFL and the commish wouldn't make the Argos to BMO announcement in Calgary. I'm sure the Argos move would be announced at BMO stadium with Tory, Leweike, Braley and Porridge present.

Furthermore, I don't see an Argo announcement coming until sometime after the TFC home opener on Sunday.

Live Stream of the announcement that is starting in 7 minutes.

Grey Cup renaming/sponsorship added to it. Sickening

If this is the case, I am ALL for it. The Google Grey Cup has a nice ring to it.

The Shaw Grey Cup.

And strange that it would be Shaw - technically one of Bell's competitors - owners of Global.

Your not serious. Its not even theirs to rename.

They won't re-name the actual cup, the game or cup will be "presented" by Shaw.

This I don't mind, so long as the championship trophy is not labelled.

My thought exactly. That makes little sense.

Strange that it will have the Shaw as the presenting sponsor if true. Bell would have to give the OK on this, unless there will be different presenter every year.

As long as it brings in enough $$$

Wow. It is Shaw. Makes me wonder if the BCE/Argo deal did fall thru. Hope they got some good coin for this.

Correct me if I am wrong but Shaw is more of a direct of Rogers than BCE - both are more cable based. That can not have helped an MLSE deal.

Anyone want to guess how much the got???

My guess...

If it was the Shaw Grey Cup, I could see $7 - 10M/yr.
For the Grey Cup Presented by Shaw, $2 - $3M/yr?

Considering I am the last 3 posts, this has gone over like a lead balloon.
