How did the Robert Panabaker virtual clothesline on Ontaria Wilson late in the game not get flagged and subsequently fined for unnecessary roughness?

Do we really want these plays in the league?

These fines are kind of a joke. Basically just the league reviewing hits that were already called on the field and tacking on fines to make it look like they care about player safety.

Well you can’t expect that the leagues golden boy franchise can possibly do anything wrong , now can ya ?!? :face_vomiting:

Awe continues to lead despite not being fined this year.

Castillo’s fine was for complaining about the chip so not an on field play. I wonder how many others are like that? Probably the two to MBT. Maybe the one to Whyte?

I think Lewis Ward, Richie Leone, and Brett Lauther are all in the same boat.

Yeah, it would be better to disregard some of them - already mentioned above. MBT’s was fined twice for criticizing the short turnaround on weeks. Hardly hurt the team on the field.

AWE was talked to by Dave Dickenson about the un-necessary penalties at the beginning of the season. He has been working hard to prevent the calls against him.

This sure shows which team (s) are undisciplined and need coach intervention. If the coach is serious about discipline that is!

Awe isn’t that special ? Good for him ! :innocent:

Rules in the league need to be followed for the good of the league. All the teams have short weeks of play. Those remarks by MBT were wrong because TSN (who have exclusive game coverage) dictate a lot when teams can play. The league has to comply or lose the revenue. CFL is not a big crowd drawing even like other sports. TSN have scheduling of other sporting events that conflict with CFL. Now that CTV is going to have some scheduled games things may get better. But not until next season if the CTV is going to continue with CFL…

Some repeat offenders at the top of that list for sure, Including that hard hitting Mcleod Bethel-Thompson. MBT’s hits of course were for just hurting Randy and the schedule computer’s feelings.

Maybe I should clarify my comments. I am not suggesting that MBT or anyone should disregard the rules. I am merely saying that fines levied for “dirty” hits or football plays are a little different than criticizing the league for the new footballs or short weeks. MBT, Castillo, Whyte etc aren’t physically going over the line & impacting another player’s health. If you want to make a comparison among teams IMO it would be good to have some distinction there.

No doubt Thursday night games would be TSN’s call. And how do we know that TSN is not compensating the home teams for Thursday Night games. I haven’t missed a Thursday night TV game this year. Programing is King. But sorry TSN now that the NFL will take over the Thursday nights I wont be watching so much. But other CFL haters will make up the difference.

Might be something to add to my list next year, non playing fines. I think there is 1 for Castillo, 1 for Whyte, 2 for MBT.

Although MBT had something of a point. The only part of 5 days rest - is when a team on 5 days rest ends up playing a team coming off the bye.

I don’t know where you got those numbers, but Chris Edwards and Javien Elliott aren’t even on the Ticats team this year! I don’t recall Kiondre Smith being fined for anything.
Kind of boggles my mind that Niles Morgan wasn’t fined OR penalized for what appeared to be clothesline hit on Hakunavanhu that sent him off the field in an ambulance OR the head hit on QB Taylor Powell that also sent him to hospital during the same game.

His list is since the start of the 2023 season.

I agree. The game is better when the rules are enforced. It doesn’t help when Glen Suitor defends hand fighting etc. Get your hands off the receivers. Defensive players get away with murder. It’s the D that delivers head shots and late hits. When a player is down touch him, don’t drive him into the turf. We want to watch QBs, RBs and WRs so protect them from dirty play. IMO O players are trying to produce an exciting product so make D players play within the rules.
