In the Chargers / Vikings game, the Chargers returner flubbed a fair catch. Sinkfield picked it up and started running in in for a TD. But with the (lame) NFL rules, the ball is deemed dead at the point of recovery in this case. I really hate their kicking rules, especially the fair catch and the grounded ball.
Moot point anyway, as on the review, they found that the ball touched the Chargers player's foot while his other foot was on the sideline. So not only a dead ball, but not a turnover either.
