as far as I am concerned, cartoons do not belong in any list of top whatever prime time scripted tv shows.

for me, Gunsmoke remains number 1 in episodes and SUV number 1 in seasons.

interesting to note that many shows on for the same number of seasons have notable discrepancy of number of episodes

I guess you've either never seen The Simpsons or don't have a sense of humour. The first 7 seasons are some of the funniest television of all time.

Also, I fail to see how longest running relates to quality in any way. The absolute best season of television ever made was True Detective season 1. The fact that there are only 3 (soon to be 4) seasons in total or that the other seasons are shit doesn't in any way diminish how amazing season 1 is.

not saying that there is not reason for people to like watching the show, but I just think cartoons should be in a separate category.

As far as longevity goes, it is an unequal stage. They could keep the same show and characters going for many decades whereas that is not the case with regular shows.

I have watched just enough to know I personally dont care for these newer prime time cartoons. Last one I liked was Johnny Quest, but then I was around 10 at the time.

Thats right. Longest running does not equate to qualtiy. At least not totally. OTOH, bad shows dont usually last double digit years.

I am often bummed by the way too soon cancelling of many shows I thought were good while wondering why other shows are lasting longer

I have heard that one's good. It's on my list along with The Wire and Reacher. Have to watch The Sopranos first.

put some good hearted light on the CFL in a few episodes reaching millions to probably google the CFL down in the States and elsewhere to see the reference .
