if you're hurt, stay out.
You wanna play then expect people to come after you..
BTW, the hit was not dirty and perfectly legal.
I'm not sure if the showed it on TV but live the head ref actually pulled out the flag from his pocket and then quickly stuffed it back in.
As for the apostrophe, I was taught that you add the “s” after the apostrophe on a name or non-plural word ending in “s” when you would say the extra syllable when speaking. Usually it’s added when the word ending is a soft “s”, but not when it’s a “z” sound. So I think the reporter is correct in his spelling.
I think the issue with the hit was that Lawrence had his forearm closer to the side of the knee. I've been wearing the same type of knee brace for 7 years, they offer a lot of protection from side impact hits, fitted correctly it's tough to move the knee sideways unless the foot is planted, then there is a chance of further damage. They are made of carbon fibre. The one Burris is wearing looks much heavier than mine. I wouldn't have expected that hit would have caused damage. The problem is that physically the knee is stable, but mentally you are always thinking about it. I think this is what caused the war of words.
Burns should also be fined for his public tirade at half time. He implied the hit was illegal and was not called.... so he should also have been fined.
Clean hit.... Ref was right to not call anything and the league agrees since they did not fine Simoni for it.
While I completely agree with everything you say, are we sure the league isn’t looking at the hit still? He got fined for his comments but that doesn’t necessarily imply they’re not looking at the hit. That fine came almost immediately the next morning and they usually take a couple days when they look at hits like this.
Hold on there, that’s why I said I agree. Just saying the fine for his comments doesn’t imply he’s out of the woods on the hit. We don’t know yet if the League will prove to be as dumb as the TSN panel.
They definitely will have discussed or will be discussing the hit and I’d expect a statement from the league either way on it. If I recall, they made a statement when they chose not to fine the Argo’s for the hit on Reilly in week 1.
Like I said earlier, Simoni is a player, shows he knew he was in the right and that he has some class. Still waiting to see Burris slag Hinds on national TV for his illegal hit that put Mathews out. Do you think the TSN panel will call him on it?
Me neither!
Maybe we shouldn't interview players "in the heat of the moment"? Give them a cool off period first?
We just watched Simoni's interview on the Ti Cats' web site...and my wife accepts your apology, she understands it was said in the heat of the moment and she knows that you have more respect for women and would not normally compare them to the likes of " Blubberin' " Hank. You worded your apology perfectly and the message came through loud and clear. Keep up the good Simoni and don't let them get into your head!
Notes: Johnson also clarified that the first quarter hit by Lawrence on Burris that sparked so much controversy was indeed within the rulebook. “That was a legal hit by the standard we have for roughing the passer,? Johnson said. “When the passer is on the run and is not in the passing position he can be tackled low. We treat him just like we would any other ball carrier.?…
I thought Simoni’s apology was hilarious. He’s sorry to women for comparing them to Hank… well, I accept. I certainly wouldn’t want to be lumped in a group with him.
And even Burris probably knows the hit was legal, but he wanted special treatment because he’s playing “injured”.
