thanks for refreshing me on the suspension issue with Jonta.
The 4 game suspension that was handed out last year, with 1 game served.
Now I am not great at math, but if he signs with the Cats would he then need to sit 3 more games, or because they are so many games in to the year does that get waved?

He was only given 2 games and he already served one IIRC.
Espo, they are not "under contract", we just own their rights for the remainder of the season. If they choose not to play thats fine, they just cant play for another CFL team until they sign a contract with us, or get traded.

Well i was under the impression that they didnt have to report back if they didnt want to.
Example, when Cheatwood came back I thought we had to sign him to get him back. I thought it was just a "rights" issue.
That's the case for draft picks and players on the neg list.
I can't find a reference to the actual option year rule, but I'm pretty sure the players are still under contract.

Thanks for the update on the addition of Jonta Woodard from the deferred list and his transfer to the suspended list, JFL.
The cfl.ca transactions page also shows that import offensive tackle Steve Sciullo has been removed from the non-active roster. Since it does not show anything about a transfer to the active roster, it would appear that he has been released.
Hopefully they sign Woodard to an extension that actually allows him to feed his family this time. One article made it sound like he wants to be here, but barely makes enough to pay expenses during the season, never mind the off-season. I assume he has more bargaining power now as a proven starter than he did a couple of years back as a walk-on to a free agent camp.
