should Austin attempt to recoup DB Chris Thompson?

considering the 'Butterfingers Backs' employed within the Cats secondary in recent years, should Austin attempt to sign former Cat DB Chris Thompson who is slated to be a free agent in a few days?

In hindsight, the Thompson for Mann trade was an oversight by the organization, although redemption could transpire if reacquired through FA.

We could certainly use those turnover tentacles of his on D.

Best DB in the league, has been for a while.Would LOVE to have him back but apparently he's really close to being back with Edmonton and with all the cap they've been freeing up lately they probably have more spending money than us :frowning:

I think Thompson likley has had his best days and would be too costly . We need a good cornerback that can cover man to man . Rod Williams who was released could fir that bill or soem of the ex Argos db's that steinhauer could bring in like free agent mccullough among others ...right bow we Dee Webb and Colclough and maybe Bo Smith as decent candidates for halfback with James Patrick as safety ...

Rod Williams is a Viking

I'm curious as to what people would think about getting Tyrone Brackenridge and subsequently letting go of Markeith.

I would be open to that, just not "get rid of" Knowlton, trade him for a proven player and a pick.Keep in mind that i'm not saying hell yes let's do this.

I think Chris Thompson would be a good addition to the Ti-Cats secondary, considering he has been hear twice before and traded back and fourth between Hamilton and Edmonton but he is an aggressive player who has an ability as a ball hawk and a leader on the field as a veteran player and a team player, I think he would fit in nicely with the Ti-Cats again?

Also, resign Geoff Tisdale when we picked him up from Calgary last year, here is another guy who is a vet player who could work out if we signed Thompson, having Tisdale, Thompson and Bo Smith would be great having players who worked well with each other in the past?

I'd love to have Thompson here. Apparently we had so many great DBs that is was a good trade at the time.

As for getting rid of Markeith. No.

We just cut Tisdale why would we pick him back up?

8) Geoff Tisdale is done !! Why do you think the Cats released him ?? He was a joke when he came back here this past
   season !!

so much for that idea...Chris just re-signed with EDM.

Weldon Brown is a better option anyway, but he may have an NFL opportunity.

You also have to think we have a good shot at McCollough if we want him.

Surprised that Brown may have NFL aspirations.
Aside from a decent 2011 campaign, his career has not necessarily been overly remarkable.

However, I could see Burnett potentially making the transition across the pond.

As usual, Banshee is right. Markeith is the best tackler on the team, although Creehan preferred Eiben. Thank the Baby Jesus that Creehan is gone! As for Eiben, I sure hope he is considering retirement because special teamers are required to make tackles.

Pat Lynch(the old guy)

Burnett has had his time in the NFL so he will not be going back. The Cats and other teams are now looking to find the best Import prospects that have spent there 4-5 years in the NFL rosters and/or Practice rosters. coming in last year alone were Burnett, Watkins TOR, and Fred Bennett CAL all cover CBs. Another big position was LT with Orrin Thompson EDM and Xavier Fulton SASK vis EDM. Another position was at RB that fits this category. Korey Sheets SASK a lot of time on NFL practice rosters and Chad Simpson WIN most of his time in INDY as KR specialists. All all star calibre players all with no place on NFL Rosters or PR as NFL teams needed to make room for potential rookies.
With Austin down in the states in the NCAA look for him to find a DE that may have slipped by the NFL scouts.

Of available HB/DB free agents, the Cats might have interest in Dwight Anderson, McCollough and Olafioye.

Not sure if Weldon Brown or Brackenridge are worth culminating FA tenders.
The latter two are certainly capable backs, although not necessarily for frontier money.

How about Muamba, the NIP DB in BC? I believe his family may be in Mississauga.
On the other side of the line, would I be alone here as being very eager to talk to Kackert if he doesn't re-sign in the next couple of days? A big raise for him could still be a saving for the TCs with the added bonus of 7-1/2 years in age.

Don't know how I would feel about Dwight coming back.
