Because… the 3 GMs KNOW that next year Lemon will absolutely sign with Hamilton so that he can become the first Citrus Fruit to have played for every team in the CFL.
Nailed it.

Outbid when hosting the Grey Cup?
I’m sure that’s what the brain trust think.
Don’t hold your breath.
Maybe no cap space? Just spitballing.
just go over it…and pay the pennies on the dollar as a fine.
other teams seem not to have an issue with it.
Good call, but don’t forget we also had Doyle Orange here in 1977. He was a “crushing” running back. I’m surprised he never got the nickname, “The Juice”!
Signing good talent that executes IS NOT WHO WE ARE
Looks like Lemon would have been a great pickup. How many sacks?
At least one per game now including today’s against the Red Blacks. He also batted down a pass that he almost intercepted and had 3 tackles for losses.
I agree, but who would you cut in-order to have him?
His stat line last night:
1 sack
3 tackles for losses
1 pass knockdown that he almost intercepted
I’m usually not much of a believer in midseason acquisitions in football, but Lemon has come as advertised and more. Our defensive front is a lot stronger when he’s in the lineup.
It was his asking price divided by his age quotient multiplied by his expected shelf life that caused so many GM’s to shy away from crunching the numbers. Only Montreal’s team actuarian could figure it out.
It’s a good thing for you guys that math is still important in the province of Quebec.
Anyone on the practice roster?
Put Trey Crawford back on the PR insert Lemon and problem solved .
I have to agree, a great pickup along with the two rookie receivers. Obviously the talent scout/s can identify talent.
Yep. Despite a lot of Als fans not liking Maciocia, we all have to agree that he, Edme, and the rest of the football ops team have done a good job of bringing in talent at needed positions. Mack and Snead have impressed since preseason. We’ve also got a lot of secondary depth.
That all sounds great but there is no guarantee that those stats would translate like that in Hamilton.
For all we know Washington would start dropping him back into coverage.
Touché.
Having said that, DL is one of the positions where you can make an immediate impact despite minimal knowledge of a system. Just come in, get in your three-point stance, and create chaos with your athletic aptitude and knowledge of the game.
We should have cut Davis in July ( before the injury was discovered) and signed Lemon.
Wasted opportunity. Now we are stuck.
