I wonder why the 3 GMs didnt sign Shawn Lemon. Wrong answers only.
“We know better!!!”…
Wanted a Lime.
Lemon was basically unemployed for a couple of months. He would have been a nice edition on one of the ends since Davis turned into a bust. They probably would have got him cheap too.
According to Lemon himself, he had 5 teams interested. Take that with a grain of salt, of course, but it is entirely possible that HAM did make a play for him but got outbid by MTL.
Oh well at least we tried
We’re looking for “wrong answers only”…
Whoops, sorry, didn’t see the last part of the OP’s post!
Undisciplined…
The Cats don’t need Lemon because NFL cuts are coming and they will soon be signing the next Cameron Wake.
How’s that? Better?
Yes…This is the ridiculousness the OP seems to be looking for…
Oh! It was that Shawn Lemon? We thought it was some juicer named Sean LeMon…
We are TIGHT against the cap…I bet that
( and I could have the Timeline wrong) we tried to unload Davis and his 140k salary, and sign Lemon, but when the trade was void we were stuck and Lemon signed elsewhere.
Just a guess.
I remember thinking about that at the time but I’m pretty sure lemon signed with MTL before the trade itself was announced. By the time the trade was voided he was already an Alouette.
If we wanted him that bad we could have just signed him and cut Davis.
Told his agent fans in Hamilton can’t spell Shawn properly so he will sign with every team except Hamilton which he has now done.
Unless they knew they couldn’t cut Davis because of the injury. Perhaps they told Calgary he’s not 100%, but he’s close to game ready and they accepted the trade until they found the tear in the meniscus.
Pretty sure there’s nothing in the CBA about cutting players with injury. You’re just responsible for their rehab costs.
Davis is going to come back from the bye week miraculously cured, lighter, energetic and aggressive.
I’d be surprised if that’s the case, Crash.
My belief is that a player, with a football related injury, could not be cut before he’s cleared to fully participate in team practices. What you’re thinking, I believe, may be the case for rookies, injured during a training camp period.
I admit I don’t know the full details surrounding injured players, but id imagine it lasts the season if anything. Perhaps it’s until a player can’t pass their next physical (next training camp).
