Now? Well not so good.
About a decade ago?
Maybe 43 yards on a field goal max with an NFL ball with accuracy, but that was from a tee.
But a lower percentage drop kick is one I could sail farther, even with an NFL ball.
I can still pull off the latter, but not so far any more.
I was a better punter than kicker back in those days here in PA and in Florida just kicking around for exercise too.
Aha cool - and I still can kick free kicks on goal with a soccer ball, from outside the box with some swerve, with as much accuracy as ever here at age 54. I can’t believe the latter too. I do it about once a week for a fun day between workouts.
kicking was never my forte because my right foot was not born north/south, it was a little off to the right, I think the bones in the ankle grew slightly off. would literally have to break and reset for it to be corrected.
so every time I’d do a place kick (field goal) the angle was always wrong
Having, back in grade 12, resurfacing articular cartilage surgery on my dominant kneecap being born with what is called bipartite patella (a double lobed kneecap) that resulted in major water on the knee and pain and now osteoarthritis, the thought of even trying to kick a fg gives me the goosebumps. It’s amazing with how much kickers practice and kick in games they don’t damage their knees more often.
