Cats battle Argos on Rivalry Night in T.O.
August 16, 2010 0 Staff

Toronto -- If the 2010 Argos can be wrapped up in one word, it would have to be thrilling. After last Saturday’s game versus the Alouettes, the 5-2 Toronto Argonauts sit in a first place tie atop the East division. Now, the rivals from down the QEW, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, want to get their claws into the team that is arguably the most exciting squad to watch in the CFL.

Arland Bruce III and the Ticats are set to take on the Double Blue this Friday, August 20 at 7:30 p.m. for Rivalry Night at the Rogers Centre.

The Argos have turned the dome into their house and have won every home game this season as newcomers Cleo Lemon, Chad Owens and Cory Boyd have made it as easy as 1, 2, 3 for fans to cheer the team on.

Lemon had one of his best CFL games today last week lighting up the Alouettes for 269 yards and three touchdowns. Owens was a dynamo at receiver, hauling in six passes for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Boyd was his usual dominant self, pounding the ball in for another touchdown.

Both the Ticats and Argos are teams on the rise, making this an especially important game.

Hamilton clobbered the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday night thanks in part to DeAndra’ Cobb’s two touchdown performance. Bruce III also hauled in a touchdown pass as he continues to be one of the league’s hottest receivers. And if you like defence, Canadian Matt Kirk racked up a pair of sacks in the team’s Week #7 victory.

The August 20 game wraps up Football Week in Toronto, a collaboration between the Toronto Argonauts, the Bills Toronto Series and Football Canada from Saturday, August 14 – Friday, August 20. Football Week in Toronto is a series of events aimed to raise awareness for and promote participation in minor football in the Greater Toronto Area.

Yup -- love having meaningful games against our rivals! Actually feels like a rivalry! Should be good!
