Don't know if Pikula is there to push McCalum or not. To me its a trade of players that had little impact last year.

rumor had it Pikula wanted out. I am going to stick up for the guy and say he didnt get a good shot anyways. If you look at his punts he never kicked one in the middle of the field, how many bad snaps did he deal with? he was concussed because of a bad snap! how many punts where partial blocked. He didnt have the best punting avg but you have to look at what he was given. I will probably be the only one who sticks up for the guy but I saw it all year and dont blame him for wanting out. How many kicker have we had here in winnipeg over the past 3 years? doesnt that say something about coaching or schemes? Just a thought before you bash everyone on the site. Sabastein Clovis will only be a special teams player as he was in BC
...good for the Bombers.....no matter how you cut it...long as Troy Boy can keep his game together...like he finished in 07.. 
I think Taman is INSANE if he is counting on Troy as his #1 kicker for next year. He'd better have a half dozen place kickers in camp this year. Troy's end of season showed he can still punt but I saw very little to give me any confidence in his field goal or kickoffs. Ideally for caproom they can find someone who can do both and is Canadian a tall order.
Now Papa, correct me if I'm wrong, but once a year, isn't there a movement to run Troy Westwood out of town? I bet if I even looked at some of the old threads in the forum, I'll bet I could find a few over the last few seasons running him out of town.

....Troy is his 'own' worst enemy...he showed towards the end of last year that he still can perform...he certainly had rough patches during the year...but seemed to come around when it counted....He certainly didn't cost the Bombers the Grey Cup...however ...just in case...i'm sure the Bombers will bring in someone to challenge for the kicking duties...we'll see....Pikula didn't work out and even if Clovis is just a special teamer...we're still ahead...
Okay Papa, but, come September, (Maybe August)and all those posters start screaming for Troys head. I will ask..."Where did Pikula go?"
seriously sportsmen how good do you think pikula is he has no potential as a placekicker at all his best would be max 35-40 yard field goal and he was out kicked all year by every1 in kick offs he was horrible like a kickoff is not suppose to drop at the 20-25 yard line thats all ready not a bad starting point for the other teams and thats if the returner goes no where. Also do we not have some other kickers lined up anyways like a british guy or something and some greenhouse guy so i think we should be fine for kickers.
by the way if you haven't noticed Hebert left he got like 70% of our special teams tackles so someone needs to fill those shoes and another fun fact who is our safety for those that don't believe clovis is not good to start we got Logan and Nugent, both have potential but as i see it it's a toss up between the 3 so i don't see how you can count Clovis out of the race for starter considering when he was with the Lions and there amazing core of DB's , He really didn't get a fighting chance like really who could he have beat on that all-star lineup

Haven't seen Pikula for any great length of time. His play has been here and there from time to time. I didn't mind Pikula when he was out our way for a very short time.
To me this trade is not a big deal. Back up for back up. Papa made the comment that the Bombers and Taman "Fleeced" us.
I just pointed out to Papa that the annual "Get Rid Of Westwood" campaign always appears once or twice a season.
This in my opinion is page 48 news, backup for backup.
Lets make it clear here while the anual run westwood out of town thing comes up each year… it is ussually started by a very uneducated bomber fan or troy has the odd bad game. He is not perfect, but he is reliable (no duh hes been here longer than milt…) and i like troy. Really i couldnt care less if the were 100 backup kickers, Troy plays well when we need him most.

Thank god, PIKULA couldn't kick worth a damn and Clovis is a very good player and will help out on ST and on the D side, finally we won a trade.
GET REAL MAN, CLOVIS WILL BE A STARTER THIS YEAR, IF NOT THAN 2009, GREAT PLAYER. STICKING UP FOR PIKULA, YOU GOT BALLZ MAN, WESTWOOD WAS PUT IN THE SAME SITUATIONS KICKING AND PUNTING AND HANDLED IT GREAT (DID A WAY BETTER JOB THAN PIKULA) SEE WESTWOOD IN THE PLAYOFFS … GREAT JOB … ENOUGH SAID … OH PIKULA WON’T EVEN BE IN THE CFL IN 2 YEARS, HE SUKS THAT BAD … WE DID FLEECE BC…
blue&gold4ever if you look at any of your posts withing the last month the information if very wrong. for instance you said Dickenson was going to be a coach for us, etc. You have no clue what goes on behind the scenes. You are just someone for some reason has his finger up Troy your boys rear. We will see what happens this year!
