TIGER-CATS SET TO FACE ALOUETTES ON LABOUR DAY
Hamilton, Ontario – The Labour Day tradition continues in Hamilton on Monday, September 5 when the Tiger-Cats host the Montreal Alouettes in the ‘Labour Day Classique’ at Ivor Wynne Stadium. Kickoff takes place at 1:00pm.
The Tiger-Cats (4-4) will be looking to defeat the Alouettes (5-3) for the second time this season in a matchup that will have significant impact on the East Division standings. This will be the ninth time the Ticats have faced the Alouettes in the 62-year history of the Labour Day game. The Ticats are undefeated (7-0-1) in previous Labour Day clashes with the Alouettes.
The Ticats will help kickoff Canadian Country Music Week in Hamilton by having two of the nation’s top artists performing at Ivor Wynne Stadium. Canadian country star Jason Blaine will take part in a pregame concert in the Carling Zone prior to kickoff while 2010 Canadian Country Music Association Male Artist of the Year Gord Bamford will take centre stage at halftime.
Before kickoff, fighter jets will fly over the field and fans will be treated to a performance by the Pipes and Drums of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada.
The Purolator Tackle Hunger Program will return for its ninth season in Hamilton and fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation to the stadium. In return, fans will have the opportunity to receive a souvenir photo with the Grey Cup and enter a draw to win two tickets to the 2011 Grey Cup in Vancouver. Purolator volunteers and Ticats alumni will be stationed at each stadium gate to collect donations. Last year, Hamilton football fans raised 50,466 pounds of food - 26% more than in 2009 - for Hamilton Food Share through the Purolator Tackle Hunger program.
The gameday experience begins at the TigerTown Fanzone (Brian Timmis Field) at 11:00am. Fans of all ages are encouraged to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the festivities, which include an alumni autograph session featuring Tommy Joe Coffey, inflatable games for kids, a cheerleader photo booth, music, food and more.
