Saskatchewan @ Hamilton

Rematch from last week today after the 37-0 Victory.

Interesting why the Riders left in Sheets and Durant so late and why they didn't give them the single point when it was clearly the right play.

I think their is some bad blood between the Riders and Tiger-Cats more on the coaching end then the actual players I think.

YUP......37-1........Sounds so much better than......37-0........... :thdn:

Isaac: The key to this team is their running back? Keep in mind Hamilton's d got beat for 350 yards through the air last week as well. If Hamilton thinks that all they have to do is shut down the run to be successful, they are mistaking.

Frank Burris guarantee's win, says Cory going to sheet the bed.

Wow!

Should be entertaining game.

Sheets is currently on a record breaking pace though. Shutting him down is key to getting any kind of pressure on Durant and attacking the passing game that way.

If they can’t stop him, they don’t have much of a chance of stopping anybody else.

Every starter in Hamilton’s secondary is in their first year in the CFL. If Durant is playing, I think they’ll get torched again. I guess they’ll have to try to stop the run since stopping the pass seems highly unlikely.

There was a Hamilton penalty on the play. The referee explained it was a pre-snap foul and so therefore could not be declined (which I thought was a bit weird, should have been no play then?). If they were allowed to decline it the point would have stood. So the point that the Riders conceded was taken off the board. The yardage pushed the Cats out of range (even with the wind) and so punted instead. The punt was fielded at the 8 and returned to the 26.

The Riders had no say in the single point.

But other than that yes, I believe that 25 yards of field position going into that wind with the score only 16-0 mid 3rd quarter, I would have given the point and taken the 25 yards myself if given the choice. At 23-0 in the 4th, maybe not. At 30-0 definitely not. By that point with the game out of reach, the morale boost gained by the defense means that you have to give your defense that chance for the shutout.

I hope the Refs start calling the offsides that the riders receivers imo
are getting away with.

Come on refs just because they are tiny you still need to play by the rules!

:thdn: :thdn:

lol

wow

that’s what you want to hold onto huh

If you watch carefully, at least one receiver is offside almost every play of every game. They only call it for guys in motion if they’re way over.

As for Sheets being a focal point for the D...it sure is.

The run game has really opened up things for the Riders. That said, the passing game has also opened things up for their running game. Cortez has done a beautiful job thus far of mixing things up with a very balanced attack. It was really the difference maker in the Riders/Stamps game where Cornish was under utilized.

When the D has been focusing in on Sheets, the passing game has excelled, and when the Ds drop into more pass coverage they have been taking advantage of that on the ground. The Play action, thus far, has to be respected by teams, because the run has been so effective.

I think it would be interesting to line the running game up against a 3-4, where you can truly shadow Sheets while still maintaining coverage but not getting the QB pressure. BC is really the only club that does this though, and I don't believe the Cats (or most teams for that matter) have the skill in the secondary and OLBs to do this.

If you notice, Sheets has really been gaining a lot of his yards in the second half of games...something that the Riders have owned this season so far in ball control and points. Their first half of games have been pretty close, then the balanced attack starts in the 2nd half. They really haven't given much up outside of garbage time because of this...wearing out DLs, keeping the other O cold due to possession time. It will be a rain game for the Riders, and Hamilton definitely has an edge in experience there!

So you disagree?

I like seeing games in different stadiums and for that i’m tuning in today, and as a BC Lions fan i’m saying GO Ti-cats but its also my aunts fav team as she was born there.

It’s a bird…no, it’s a plane…no…it’s Captain Obvious.

It is a tired argument that gets brought up every season. When you see a game on TV, you see the players from above and behind. I’ll take the line judge’s vantage point on the play thank-you kindly.

Also, as stated by someone above, there are players in motion off-sides by ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL teams at times that don’t get called. It is a player in full motion timing to the snap of the ball…they give all clubs the same leniency…if your foot is in stride over the LOS but not on the ground, you are extremely unlikely to get called…it is not realistic to expect more than that.

Every team’s receivers are offside at least 10-15 times per game. The reason is that the officials are instructed to give ‘grace’ of 1 yard to waggling receivers. Judging by LoS angle replays that I have seen in the past, I have come to believe that if the receiver actually STEPS over the line of scrimmage - actually puts his foot on the ground - they will throw the flag, but if his body, including his leading leg/foot is over but not stepping down yet, they let it go.

Can’t say I’ve ever been comfortable with this ‘grace’ interpretation, but it has been there for years now and the same for everybody.

Very True.Good observation

Hamilton should win this game even if Durant plays. Even up money

So you disagree?

I agree, its the two or three strides over i have a problem with.

Just was announced that Willy is starting.

Why Willy?

I imagine to allow time for Durant's ankle to heal properly.
