Saskatchewan at Edmonton Game Thread Saturday, October 5, 2024

Game starts in less than an hour. Edmonton must win to keep slim playoff hopes alive and Saskatchewan needs the win pretty bad too in the race for second place in the West. I expect it to be very competitive.

Does anyone have a bead on local weather conditions?

Google says 14 degrees, clear, light winds. Sounds good.
Hope this game is exciting. The other 2 weren’t.
Back to the Phillies game . . .

Three doors close if when the Riders win tonight. The Stampeders are out of the playoffs, the Elks are out of the playoffs, and the Tiger Cats don’t cross over.

Good to know. I figure the Cats have to finish 3rd to make it. Never held much hope for the Crossover.

If the Riders win it will be the first time since the Stampeders were founded in 1945 that no Alberta team makes the playoffs.

rider sins are the worst and do a lot of damage

Elks will be 6 pts back with only 2 games left.

Hoping to see Jake Julien put on another master class.

Mario Alford has been struggling this season, so seeing him have a big game would be awesome too.

Yea you are correct… Elk out with a loss.
What an incentive for both teams

In looking at the standings this game isn’t potentially as critical for Saskatchewan as I initially thought I believe.

They are one point behind BC and winning today probably won’t matter if they are up by one point next week and lose to BC. Even if they are behind by one point next week and beat BC all they have to do is beat Calgary in their last game to finish 2nd. No chance of a tiebreaker unless there is another tie.

With 2 games left for the Bombers and BC and BC 4 points behind they can’t finish first as the Bombers have the season series as they have against all West teams. If Saskatchewan wins today they will be 3 points behind the Bombers and in theory could still finish first first by winning out and the Bombers losing out. Realistically that likely won’t happen though. If Saskatchewan loses today the Bombers clinch first.

I hope they both play up to it, but I hope more for the Riders  .

Wonder if Dillon Mitchell is hurt. I thought he was gonna be the Elks main returner.

I believe a Rider loss would secure a Bomber division title.
