Samuel Giguère ...

... has joined the National Bobsleigh Team, training/trying-out for the World Cup season.

Do you think that signals a desire then to move as a FA to Calgary if possible? I think the bobsleigh team HQ is there..

I believe you are core ct; it would be terrible loss ( ) for the Als but SG has to do what is best for him.

I hate these emoticons. Are you putting that wink in there because you DON'T think it would be a terrible loss?

Personally I hope he stays and Nik too. I really grew to see Nik as a very valuable team leader. Never drops a pass and never shirks responsibility.

Giguere worked with the bobsleigh teams during his time in Hamilton (2012 for sure and I think 2011) and had actually hoped to qualify for the 2014 Olympics, so this is nothing new for him. The Ticats run to the 2013 Grey Cup meant he was late re-joining the bobsleigh teams and the groupings for each bobsleigh were pretty much set by early December 2013 for the Olympics so the opportunity was missed. Maybe he's hoping to establish himself before the 2016 games? He didn't seem too concerned about moving to Calgary at that time but he was under contract. Now, as he is a potential free agent, that feeling may have changed.

I debated between  and  .

No, I don't think it would be a HUGE loss; but neither do I feel he needs to be gone (unlike say Eris deslauriers who I have simply seen enough of). Much depends on the $$$. His most consistently effective play seemed to be running the ball, and I think the Als need another dangerous receiver. That said, the QB carousel may not have helped him show what he can contribute.

I am of two minds on Nik. His total lack of speed limits what he can do, but he seems like a good veteran presence; may also come down to $$$ as you can only pay so much for "presence".

I know what you mean about Lewis. He is a slug. But as the season wore on I just found he was the only receiver that was dependable. Just a classic possession type guy who always gave his all and gained a lot of first down on tough yards. As far as Giguere I would like to see him in the slot actually.

Don't know that he has the hands for that workload; or the elusiveness running routes.
