As per 3downnation. The 2nd biggest jump in modern CFL history.
This is incredible news for the CFL.
Also explains why some teams have been able to offer so much money so many big name players
Not just that but I believe there is a jump in the base salary as well. That would be a 7% raise for base salaries.
Great to hear and shows that there was a significant rise in league revenues too.
Hope it continues
The article is a little confusing, it says $400k but then goes on to say $125k for 2025
“However, the cap increases are not compounded and the formula result needs to exceed the previously mandated minimum increase per team to take effect — $75,000 in 2024 and $125,000 in 2025.”
I don’t see what is confusing in this article; hence, based on the agreed collective agreement the 2025 salary cap was set to raise by $125,000 over 2024; since the revenue of the League have been better than anticipated, the cap will increase by more than $412,365 over the anticipated $125,000 increase, for a TOTAL/ A REAL INCREASE OF $537,365 OVER 2024. HUGE INCREASE. THE HIGHEST INCREASE EVER SINCE THE INTRODUCTION OF THE SALARY CAP.
Some players may want to review /increase their salaries. There could be many players signing beyond 2025, which is good.
Richard
If salaries are going up due to revenue increase, that is great.
Does this mean Randy will get a reprieve. We have been told one of the biggest reasons he was “being retired” is that he hasn’t increased revenues. Kind of odd this report comes out during the FA season with players getting released because they wouldn’t take a salary cut. Something doesn’t add up here.
There is a strong possibility that General Managers were not aware of this increase, until a few days ago.
Randy pourra quitter la tĂŞte haute. Leaving the League in much better financial situation than when he came.
Richard
because they added more on top of the increase that was going to happen already.
Thanks for clarifying Richard
TORONTO — The Canadian Football League (CFL) Salary Expenditure Cap for the upcoming season has been set at $6,062,365.

Great news! It’s a great game. These guys put their bodies on the line for very little compensation. I only hope that the cap will continue to increase so that these players can get what they truly deserve.
That’ll buy you a fistful of talent.
So Ambrosie had a positive impact. Good job.
Yaa!! These are numbers for the ordinary working man.
Got to be a positive developement for sure, .
It’s great the Salary Cap has gone up
BUT!!
Why wasn’t this announced before all these teams have made their final offers before finding out the cap has gone up by a substantial amount,
Giving the teams that had lost their FA’s ability to match with their new found $$$ and the offering teams have no recourse
It’s just so CFL
Randy’s final chance to kick the CFL in the gnads on his way out
Final offers haven’t been made yet. The legal tampering window is still open and teams have the opportunity to offer competing contracts.
In that opening seven-day window, teams can make a formal offer to any pending free agent. That offer must be registered with the CFL office and the CFLPA. Offers made in the window are “considered binding” and cannot be rescinded.
