not in montreals case…how can they sell MORE tickets than the 20 202 they sell out every nite???..
how can montreals owner cry that he needs govn. help to increase the size of his stadium, or he cant make money …yet he turns down a cap???
and if the 3 or so teams that can afford to spend like crazy to buy a winning team to sell more tickets do that…they are hurting the otehr teams to the point where some will fold…if teams fold, that only HURTS the the rich teams, cuz now they own a team in a bush league that noone will go to.
Drumming god's correct. Why do I want to go see my team lose because they can't afford to spend like other teams. I love the NFL and NHL because in any given year if a team is managed correctly they can win that year. Unlike baseball where year after year the same teams are in the play-offs and the teams with the small payroll either have great management and a great farm system that gets robbed or they sit in obscurity in the basement of the division year after year (ie the Royals, the Devil Rays, Pirates, Reds).
Ro you sitting down I agree totally. the illegal aspect of the contracts will go underground for sure. A cap will do nothing but force GM’s and owners to pay under the table.
that doesnt happen in the other leagues, why would it happen here.....there is going to be an independant firm incharge of making sure every deal is legal....
why wont some people try it, then make adjustments the next year, if need be?
I think the head office should invest in a mid Evil body stretcher, Hughy C would be 7ft "9.. before seasons end.
The Comissioner should get his way...enough of the shinanagans...
Bring in Drumming god's independent firm..
I am not so sure it doesnt happen in other leagues, besides it also doesnt have to. Even thought there are caps there is really no other place to go.
The NHL players are not going to go to Europe for more money nor will MBL go to Japan. The CFL has to compete with the NFL and it takes money to do it. You dont think BC would have sweetened the pot a little to keep Printers if they could have?
I would like to see a Euro Super League of ice hockey made up of the best teams from Europe at some point in my life (Euro rules are interresting), but Ro is right in that most NHL players would still stay in North America becase the NHL plays big bucks (even with the Cap). Euro is getting stonger but it's not that strong.
Bottom line: the CFL needs a cap, unless you want to see most of the teams fold and the league meaged with the NFL??? don't think anyone wants that.
I don't think anyone disagrees that a cap is needed but we all have a different opinion on how much should the CAP should be. I for one think it should be more then 3.8, maybe I am in the minority but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. People want to see the best players available, we don't want to watch guys with lower talent! I don't know about you guys but when I pay my $250 for a Grey Cup ticket I expect to see the "best", not average players. If the difference between signing someone with lots of talent and just another "average" football player is a few more thousand dollars a year then I say "open up the grain elevator vaults and pay the difference".
