Here are the top ten rushers after Week 10. It feels as though rushing is a bit down this year (though passing is probably up). As we head into fall, who do you think will start putting up bigger numbers?
IMO, the Bombers are looking strong, and I think the Redblacks might start to put their run game together. I'll also be watching to see what the Argos can do with Harris on the shelf.
Andrew Harris is easily the best running back in the league right now if he can stay healthy. MacBeth needs Harris to start next game or he’ll be forced to do it all by himself again…
Hard to say. Oliveira has definitely improved. The key for Toronto is for the oft injured Harris to be healthy come playoff time. I’ve never been a big Powell fan. Maybe some injured guys will make a difference. Carey? Butler? Wilder? Stanback if he is back.
Powell and Carey are terrific all right. But Andrew Harris is a Canadian and who wouldn’t want to start a perenial all star RB in the back field who allows you to start another American in the O-line?
When he’s healthy he’s the best option. This year he might not be the most RELIABLE option.
Yeah, Stanback is at or near the top if he’s healthy. And Oliveira seems to be getting better and better. He could play a big role in the playoffs if Winnipeg is nursing a lead vs the Lions at some point.
Morrow overtakes the idle Oliveira to move into first place.
Another impressive stat I saw about Morrow is that he's third in the league in YAC at 255. The Riders will probably have to lean heavily on him and Hickson down the stretch.
Looks like Nathan Rourke will drop out of the 7th spot in the top ten Rusher Rankings list should that damaged foot keep him out of the lineup against Saskatchewan.
Caleb Evans at 245 yds probably won’t start in week 12 so he’ll likely fall down a notch or two also. It could be that either Don Jackson at 229 yds or Taylor Cornelius at 225 yds will take over the 10th spot going into week 13.
One thing I notice is that RBs lose their quickness with age. Almost always an error to pick up an aging RB that used to be great but is past their prime. (Harris, Powell and I would include Stanback here).
If this post was about the best rusher regardless of yards gained, it'd be a battle between Morrow, Carey and Peyton Logan I would say. Hickson gets an honourable mention.
I think rushing is down party because of the successful pass attack of Nathan Rourke style of play, QB’s seam to toss the long ball more often this year. Just most don’t read the play as fast or lead the target receiver enough.
I made a post years ago about the 1000 yard standard, and how it really isn't an equal standard for both RBs & WRs. It is much easier for a WR to hit 1000 than a RB.
As an Argo fan, I was happy to see them call a jet sweep to Banks last game. The Argos run calling has been very predictable, straight up the gut with strong, stocky guys like Harris or Oullette. If they ran a few more sweeps, it would keep the D on their toes and open more holes up the middle for the bigger guys.
