Pardon my ignorance, but you are the 2nd person to mention an “ass fumble”. I’ve never
heard of such a thing (at least on the football field - another kind being, i guess, if you somehow miss the toilet). So could someone pls. enlighten me as to the meaning of this term?

He is defering to posession being awarded to the team that last touched a loose ball before it goes out of bounds.
It is, in a way, counter to the CFL’s own definition of posession and perhaps too random a way to determine ensuing posession.

As far as I know I coined the term “ass fumble recovery” 3 seasons ago to mock the rule whereby a player is credited with recovering a fumble if it bounces out of bounds off of his ass. I have yet to see it literally happen since then but it will.
In my opinion one of the worst rules in professional sports.
