Roughriders Discussion - 2025 Season

I don’t.
BC as team still looks like bits of seasoning is needed. Rourk still has yet to prove himself.
Even if i am wrong it was a much-needed win for the Green team and that is what we got

I’d like to think we have won and I picked Sk thinking it would be a Maier Rourke battle but after seeing Maier I’m not so confident that we’d have pulled off the win.
Anyhow, our guys did pull it off in great fashion. I just wish they wouldn’t have allowed that garbage time TD in the end. 37-10 had a real nice look to it and helps the for-against spread!

Yes of course it helped the BC second string QB was far inferior to our second stringer. There is good reasons why Cowtown turfed him.
I also used to think that the aecond string QB in the Peg was well past his pull date. That is far from the truth. There is not too many teams that have a backup thst should be a starter. In fact, iI can think of none right now. Cody in Edmonton possibly, but then why did the Larks get rid of him for pocket change and trinkets. No other team seamed to want Cody either. BC now knows they have to replace their back up, buy eith whom, and when. Toronto has no bsck up despite him getting a win the Grey Cup last year he hasvpretty muched proved that lighhting strike was luck.
We Rider fans can only hope our current backup only gets better for the if and when he is required to step in.

I believe that the Riders brought Maier in for the short term based on his game experience. Given a good team around him, he will get the job done. I feel that the Riders are actually looking at Coan to be the man to take the reins from Trevor. I know Trevor has been high in praise for Coan for quite a while now. There is the wild card of potentially landing Kurtis Rourke in a few years as well.

I think Cody is more than a solid backup and als ditched him for a cheaper younger future.

Streveler moved up a notch for me in his start. I’m not sold on him but I’m pretty confident with him as a back up.

Arbuckle played pretty good last week. Let’s see what happens today before we through him out with the bath water.

MBT - hard to say. He’s in the VA (current), Masoli (past) camp for me. Seems to have brilliant games then seems to forget how to play.

I think the rest of the league is in tough at backup.

We have a better team than the one that beat him last year.

Agreed but I’m less convinced we’d have won yesterday with Maier if Rourke was playing.

But, that just dont matter… we got the W .
I still say Mr. R is still a question mark as to his value to his team.

I figured it would take him a year to regain his form. Mid season give or take. He won’t do it sitting in the tub though.

Had another sober look at the game. Close but not quite what i thought. Maier was much better overall than the C grade game manager that i initially gave him. Blew a couple throws badly but really did take care of business overall.

Lauther did go 5 for 5 and 2 converts. Seems impressive but i am still uncomfortable with the amount of paint he is peeling off the goal posts. Trending in the right way at least.

Secondary is starting to tighten up. Love it!

Lost another Oline. Tate. Will it ever end? Maybe Reid is ready to play?

Campbell missed the 4th Qtr. Hope it is minor. Perfect time for a bye week.

Thanks for the insight.

On Maier I’ll stick with my assessment. He didn’t have a very good game but it was enough, it was his first game, and as a backup he’s light years ahead of what we had last year. If Harris went down for a few games I wouldn’t expect fireworks but id be comfortable and I’m hopeful that he can be a quality starter.

I’m worried about the o line too. Not sure of the i jury status of anyone else. How bad was Tate hurt?

Secondary looked awesome, but it wa Masoli and the lions. Man if we can do that to the bombers I’ll be 110% sold on this team. Right now I’m about 85%!

Was there an injury that I’m not recalling that may have prompted this?

Problem is: if Coan doesn’t get any reps, how will they know? And K Rourke is still a dream away. However, he probably won’t stick in the No Fun League for very long, so who knows?

You know what ticked me off about that 3D story. All these game times are posted in the time zone of the centre of the universe, Tranna. Just use local times!!!
Well, Tate went down, but you can never have too many 300 lb. blockers! And he has some CFL experience, and is only 24, so he could become a keeper.

I like the youth.

There has to be a reason that Coan is on the active roster and not the PR. I think that reason is that if he were on the PR some team (likely Bombers) would snatch him away. The coaches will be seeing lot of his throws and development in practice. The coaches are supposed to recognize skill and talent. I expect that he won’t see the field very much in 2025 but his time will come.

BC might take him too
