But he has good game time experience and they can bring him in in an emergency.
I wonder if this signals a bigger injury for Milligan?

It might say more about Campbell than Milligan. That was a big time hit he laid on the BB while playing special teams at the end of the banjo bowl.
PS: Riders are 10-0 when leading after 3 qtr. 1-4 when trailing after 3 qtr..
Shhhhh…..
LOL It’s all there on the CFL stats page and the coaches have way more info than they post there. And i don’t believe in JINX’S ![]()
By “shhhhh” I meant more like “don’t tell anyone it’s embarrassing”
!
Can’t just evaluate a kicker based on their USports career. Vincent Blanchard was just 74% in college, and he’s making 84.2% of his field goals in his rookie year.
They all have dirty laundry that i am perfectly willing to discuss. That is why i don’t sweat this.
Well….when you try 2 converts, and almost miss the endzone, that pretty much said it all. I see they signed a US kicker. But I heard that he once kicked a 63 yarder….no such stat in the news report. So, did they sign two kickers?
Even junior teams, and u-ball teams have consistent kickers, even though they may not have the distance.
Call me crazy or stupid but this week is the week to rest Harris and let Maier, a very capable QB who has won plenty of games as a starter, go to work and prove himself against TO and Doege at home in Regina.
well….there are no “gimmee games”….so until you clinch first, you don’t take your foot of the pedal. And finishing first is a MAJOR step towards a GC appearance. Only if they have a substantial, impossible to overcome, lead in the Argo game should they even think about sitting their starters, including Harris. Winning that game would mean that they can “load-manage” him for the next two games, and then a bye week before the WF. Besides, Maier doesn’t have to prove himself…he is not a rookie….substantial resume as a starter. I would much rather see Coan and Maier split time for the last two games, if the Riders clinch first….with Harris putting in a cameo appearance for one or two possessions only.
I’d like to see Conan get some action too once we clinch.
But this game I’m seeing it a little like when Harris missed one game against Bc/Masoli earlier in the year. It was a perfect time to sit him for his health and Maier is capable of winning especially against a backup.
Harris should play in order to get back in sync with the returning receivers.
That IS a good reason to play him.
Hey guys, this is not a free spot on the bingo card. It isn’t a must win either, but it is pretty close. We have a number of guys that are nicked up, and/or past their best before date, like Micah, who need some time off. Trevor will never admit it, but he needs to rest his aging body/arm. So the game is vitally important. We definitely need to go on cruise control sooner than later. Of course, an added benefit, although much less important, is to look at new guys after Toronto. So it is pedal to the metal….first the work, then the play.
So what you are saying is that Jake doesn’t need the practice reps because he’s old and wise but the young pup Harris does? “load management” to me means do what you have to in order to get a player back to 100%. Harris at 80% doesn’t really impress me much aside from his decision making which i still first rate. Why not reduce his practice reps?
How did that work out for Mtl when they locked up the season 12 games in? Play Jake now then ramp it up over the last two games.
I agree. I’d Rather go into the playoffs playing strong against Winnipeg and/or Bc, then get the bye. Rather than win tomorrow against TO, stumble trying to decide who to rest and who to play, lose one or both. Have a bye week. Then have no vibe or momentum in the west final.
Here’s another: With Campbell, Lokombo, Ford, and now Milligan out our backfield could give up some serious points Friday depending on Doege’s arm. I’m thinking we need Harris to counter that possibility.
If we win, by all means give Maier the bulk of reps last 2 games, but give the opening quarter (or so) to Harris to keep his head in the game.
Just my 2 cents.
The time for practice reps is at practice, not during the second most important game they will play today. When you take teams for granted, they bite you in the a$$. After the Argo game there will be plenty of time for Maier.
Jake put up 38 on BC
You might be confusing me saying give Jake more practice reps in practice to treating the game like practice. The last few weeks i have been saying to give Jake more reps in practice in Regina at practice. All to reduce the number of reps during a week that Harris is taking.
I could agree with you, then both of us would be wrong. First of all a win vs. Tor. without Harris is not a guarantee. Second, you assume that either BC or Wpg. will just hand us the game. We could play strong against both and still lose. So it is not a case of “rather than win tomorrrow” as though the remaining two will guarantee victories if we play strong. You take care of business first, and that means going all out agains the weaker team, Argos. Then, the last two, in essence, become practice games. I don’t believe that Stamps will win out, and they are the only team that could tie us and take first. Technically BC could too, but they would have to beat us by 20 points. WPg. can not take first place from us, as we already have the tie-breaker.
