Road Through The Playoffs 2025

True, but for the most part we haven’t been a ball control offence. We are a deep threat offence that either completes a few passes go down the field and score ….or have run, incomplete pass or short complete pass - then punt.

Home field is our only advantage…and Montreal is still favoured by 2.5 points.

I’m having considerable difficulty trying to get that one stat that concerns me, most for Saturday, out of my head. It’s the Tiger-Cats winning only one game, this season, against any team other than Ottawa and Edmonton, when the opposing team fielded its #1 QB as its starter, and that occurred over 100 days prior this Eastern Final. In such situations, the TiCats record, this year, is 1-6.

I’d love it if CFL writer Don Landry’s “Under the radar” TiCat pick proves to be prophetic and his choice plays a surprise big role in a TiCat win.

Good news is you’ll only have to battle that feeling for a couple more days.

I fully expect the TiCats are going over the Als Game Tape
From last week (something the Als don’t have on us)
We should be well prepared for them
The 4 top teams in the League are playing this weekend
for a chance to play for the Championship
All 4 are capable of winning the Championship
It’s gonna be a Doozy

I’ve come to terms with it and have a new glass half full perspective.
Arbuckle can’t really be considered a backup as he was the QB in camp and he is a former starter and Grey Cup MOP
Fajardo is a seasoned veteran, Grey Cup MOP that won 6 times against other teams this year.
We beat Rourke and should have beat him twice.
In our second Montreal win, in the rain, we played their healthy defense and out played them in the trenches all day.
Go Cats.

Two years ago, Bo Levi Mitchell was the backup quarterback for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in an East Semi-Final loss to the Montreal Alouettes and he didn’t foresee himself returning to the Steel City.

“At that time, when [then-senior assistant coach Scott Milanovich] benched me for the playoff game, was I pissed? Of course. I’m a multiple time Grey Cup-winning quarterback. I wanted to be in the playoffs no matter what’s going on,” Mitchell said.

“But I loved when he showed me the evidence of why he was doing it. I knew he was a great coach — there’s a reason he’s doing what he’s doing, and I’m going to get better at playing football if I stick with him.”

That game in Montreal resulted in a loss, 27-12. We only scored 4 FGs, no TDs. Shiltz was our QB after BLM was benched after 4 pass attempts and an Int. Als were led by Fajardo who passed for 2 TDs. They also relied on their kicker, Côté, who hit on 4 FGs. I think one game we want to forget.

Milo benched him and not Stein ?

I attended that game in Mtl and boy it was ugly. I still considered that Stein’s team ….but Milo didn’t exactly light it up the year after.

Putting all this stuff aside, Milo did lead an Argo team with an aging, Grey cup winning, star QB to a Grey Cup with a second franchise, in 2012.

Here is hoping Milo’s experience and knowledge will lead another legendary, Grey cup winning QB in Bo to a Grey cup with a second franchise in 2025!

( those of you thinking that only happens to the Argos…silence!)

Have they decided on the officiating teams for the 2 games on Saturday? Anybody know?

Where could we find that out ?

I looked “everywhere” on the web but couldn’t find anything. Maybe it hasn’t been decided yet…

Ok thanks

Because he was hampered by the extremely poor GM club (El Presidente, very poor players, and a Defence run by Mark Washington. Remember, he fired the STC near the beginning of the season, so that bit into the Ops Cap.

Typically it takes a little time to clean up the previous mess and turn around a program.

We were only one year removed from going to a Grey Cup…..Milo was not brand new in 2024…he should have had a better handle on how bad the defence was.

Milo took over as OC 2.5 years removed from the Grey Cup, then head coach 3 years after going to a Grey Cup.

Team has done nothing since improve since the day he arrived.

I think you may be combining memories of two different games, ClosetCat.

I believe your post, pretty accurately, describes the '23 Eastern Semi-Final, with the exception of your words “after BLM was benched after 4 pass atempts and Int” which describe a game in August of '24, when Mitchell was benched and Powell took over at QB.

Shiltz started the '23 playoff and Mitchell took over with 6:30 left in the 4th quarter of that game. The opening sentence of the 3DownNation article, linked by Grover in Post #127, states that Mitchell was the backup QB in the playoff game.

Yes, you are correct! I was influenced by Mitchell’s comment about being “benched”. He was benched before the game.

“At that time, when [then-senior assistant coach Scott Milanovich] benched me for the playoff game, was I pissed? Of course. I’m a multiple time Grey Cup-winning quarterback. I wanted to be in the playoffs no matter what’s going on,” Mitchell said.
