Riderville

Now that the team is in the black, I think its time for the folks at Riderville to give free access to the website. Its the worst site among the CFL teams and yet you have pay to access the information. Why is it that the Rider management feels it needs to gouge the fans?

thats a good question. and yes we do have the ********* site in the whole cfl and we have to pay just to access the info its a complete rip off you ask me. maybe they see it as a good way to rake in a lil cash. but i think thats taking advantage of the loylist fans in the cfl. maybe you should email the riders head marketer.

ya  dont be so cheap  i dont think there is no an advantage to pay the extra? 8) and update or improve the site we all see now IMO

sum1 should start up a petition about riderville and send it to the webmaster and if my spelling sucks well ur just gonna have to live with it

Great topic sambo, I've e-mailed Riderville on this very topic.........I have not nor do i expect a reply, i guess there are enough fans willing to pay for pure garbage or are happy with the sites con tent. My logic tells me the Riders are isolateing themselves from potential fan support and should be promoteing to as large a population base as possible, heck maybe the proceeds go towards a Shivers Vegas slush fund, if you have a suggestion on how to Get Riderville's attention i'm listining..........GO RIDERS

This website is a joke, this for the fans not some one to make a profit,Roughies FANS built this FAN BASE and we got someone charging us what?40-to-50 bucks.WHAT A JOKE!! KEEP THIS UP YOU"LL BE LOSING SOME TRUE ROUGHIES FANS,Most of the fans are probably older than the people running the site,TRUE ROUGHIES FANS DON'T NEED THE WEBSITE ANYWAY,WE DIDN'T HAVE 10-15 YEARS AGO!!

I agree that this is rediculous and needs to be stoped there honestly can't be that much income comming from the site, and to be perfectly honest there from what I can see there isn't much content there either. Why don't they say give control of the website over to say the students at The SIAST Wascana Campus computer program over there and get them to do the web programing? I think that would be one hell of an idea as well as not charging us to access it.

Its not enough that a ticket for a game is anywhere from 30-80 a pop and they want money just to check out the team info I can go on canoe, tsn or yahoo for free and get what I need,I personally have boycotted going to any live Rider games,I'm from the Calgary area.I guess maybe they need to gouge the fans to pay for Barrett and Shivers' salaries

.........just a thought, but way the website was set up was probably not originally intended to gouge the local fans, but intended to target the wallets of those displaced Rider fans living in other areas of the country/continent/planet.......at the very least any Roughraider season tickets holders should get free access, that would seem reasonable......

maybe, but anyone can access the other team's sites for free , right across the country... my point being that the Riders dont need to charge any of its fans to access the site... or maybe the other CFL teams should charge $25 to $50 to have access to information on and about the team....

I don't think that would be fair to charge the non-season ticket holders beacuse then your saying that if your not a season ticket holder you don't deserve access. This is why the CFL has had troubles with fan base, you gouge the fans they get tired of paying and never go to another game

Sorry guys but I love it that as a fan club member I get access to some exclusive material including the "rider alliance" section of the website.

Video's, chats, etc.

I also like the fact that the discussion area is generally limited to fans and not trolls.

As for the overall quality of the site there are some things I do not like but it really is not that much different than other sites but I do undersand that a revised version will be up soon.

I thought Riderville was a place to get loaded on Vitamin P at Grey Cup.

I agree paying is outrageous, however for $25.00 a year you get access to some great photos, videos, chats, etc. It is worth the money, but the principle behind charging a community based team to access the team's site is absurd. I pay to get access, but do so with great disgust.

Do other teams not charge for fan club memberships?

The content we pay for on Riderville in available for free on any other official team site.

Ok, it's obvious some of you don't know what you are talking about. First off it's $25 a year for a fan club membership. This includes free access to the web site. ???HHmmmm I paid $40 before for the fan club and got no web site... Seems like a better deal now doesn't it.
Secondly... It is very worth it for the behind the scene's look that you get of the Riders. As mentioned earlier you get access to a great forum(which a lot of Players and even the G.M. are on!!!), pictures you won't find anywhere else. And unbelievable video's.

Yes the site needs some work visually, but is well worth the money.
Lastly where are you sitting at TF that a ticket costs you $80??? Not in Regina that's for sure!!!

If you buy a ticket for a rider game , lets say an average of $40, I live oustide of Regina, so at least another $10 for gas, another $10 for a meal if you make a day of it in Regina, $20 for booze(havent been to a game in couple of seasons , so im assuming its more expensive), and another $3 for a program, and 50/50 tickets, another $3, and then if you go to a bar/restaurant after the game another $20. So for ONE game ive spent over $100. If I went to all 10 games that $1000 out of my pocket, but I want to go to maybe 3 or 4 of the 9 remaining games. Im looking at at $300 at least , and another $100 if I buy a touchdown lottery ticket. If I can make it to all the games, then that would be $1100 dollars for one season. It is a significant amount, so charging me $25 to have access to Rider info is ludicrous. Ive havent counted anything if I go to the Rider store and buy say a hat or jersey or Rider souveniers. The $25 charge IS excessive and I will in no way pay to go on the net and go to an inferior CFL site for unlimited access to my team. I will spend enough on the Riders , so I should NOT have to be gouged to have access to the website.

Of course it seems like a better deal to you. You were paying $40 for what? Now $25 for website access...good deal.

Any other team allows the access to their site for free, they may have a fan club that charges, but as far as web site content goes I can go to any site and get pictures, videos etc. without the $25 charge.

Paying $40 to $25 sounds like a deal, but paying $0 to $25 is far from a deal.
