Which Rider team is going 2 show up on Saturday?
Well I want to see this veteran laden O-line unit take charge and push some people around. They have put together one very good game in the last 5-6............so they need to re-establish the dominance now. They have zero time to sort through personell changes anymore. Picard is making it easy right now not to protect him via an expansion draft. And Best being out is proving to show how good this guy is. The left side............Labatte and Fulton need to up the game.
If the O-line can deliver time for DD and open large lanes for Sheets the offense playbook is open and flexible. If they faulter we've seen the problems that incur. It's just time to be critical of this unit and I hope they get better every week, without them playing better we're not going far.
Defense to keep it going. Getting Weldon back is great.
I see Macho is 9 gamed so I think that means we lose him for the year? But at least getting Brown back in is good.
Special teams..........lots of botches on this unit as well so they need to start tying it together and play better than average down the stretch.
Any word if Lulay is coming back? He needs to get his stampo back on this team.
I think #17 Nick Moore might be one of the best receivers in the league. I hope our guys have figured out a way to keep him in check. Shawn Gore is a little scary as well so our DB's have their hands full.
Will Logan get his return????? Might they try him at RB since their run game is not very daunting? Woudl not be surprised to see him out there..........its kind of now or never?
If our guys play to potential we'll be fine. But there have been alot of glitches the last 5 weeks. Which teanm shows up is a scary thought right now. The only team that should showup is the team that competes and plays together. That is up to the coaches to have that tightened up so we shall see............but scary to think we're wondering which team shows up!!!!!
Man isn't that the 1000 dollar question? reading in the paper coach wasn't too happy with some of the players attitude at practice on Tuesday. I think that was long over due and its time to take off the kid gloves and show who is running the things. After the performance the offense put on Saturday I would have hoped they would have been a little disgusted and want to try and prove that wasn't acceptable. That didn't appear to be the case. I hope they got an attitude adjustment and we finally see a full 60 minute effort by the offense, otherwise they could be sitting in 3rd again in the blink of an eye.
You can bet the Lions are going to be prepared after a big home loss...just as the Riders did after the Lions beat them in Regina. This should be a super physical game.
I can see the Riders sitting in 3rd after this game...just don't know what team will show up. I try to spin this, but I think the Riders drop this 25 - 17...hope I am wrong.
The riders have game plan on D will to get after Demarco and with Hall they are even beter equipt to do this.
Weldon is back but still working his way back into form but still will be good.
Lets see if the offense finally picks there spots to give Durant some designed runs. They have set up the offense all season to make this be successful. Teams have to respect Sheets as well as the receivers.
A look at the roster today and only 19 imports are on 3 on the one game for now.
It would be great to see Hurl back in on specials as well as the passing defensive packages
will be interesting to see if we have a battle of 3-4 defenses. Havent seen that in some time
Going to my first game since Labour Day last year. Hope its a good one.
Well we can only hope that the team is motivated after the Coach had his talk this week. Listening to the interviews this week, it sounds as if the team is practicing quite well...
Weather forecast not much different than it has been all week, so no excuses now...
The defence will need to be in its A Game again. The Lions have done well adjusting to defenses and even though Demarco is young, he has been surprising everyone with how well he can manage the BC offence. Once again, they looked poised to come back against Calgary last week until the final few minutes and he gave up that interception.
I agree with everyone's comments about the offence getting some consistency.. Biggest thing is execution. They need to catch balls when thrown, and OLine needs to do their job to keep pressure off Durant.
I think DD needs to stop zeroing in on receivers, and if he has to, he needs to be able to take off and run..
And for god sakes, they need to get Simon more involved in the offence to open up space for Dressler, Getzlaf and Smith.
And they should not be afraid to throw some screens and short throws to Sheets as well to get those LB's cleared out of the middle
Couldn't believe my eyes today. Went for some after work drinks here in Regina and there was a table of about 8 BC fans. All older people who travel from BC. I did not know that BC team had actual fans.... And they spent money to travel!! Now I've seen everything
Both teams will be hungry, if the good Riders show up, this will be a damn good game, we can only hope!!
BC gets a pretty good contingent considering the commute
of course they are ,the players know Durant has cost them first place with mediocre play and yet continues to lead this team, you would react the same way when you realize a change is not coming ,being lead by a not too bright quarterback doesn’t help
Darian Durant may think he's all that but he actually is one of the best qb's in the league aswell. If he just tries to manage the game and takes more calculated risks he should have a good shot at the Grey Cup, which he has done a majority of the season. Games like these have meaning, and Riders hopefully will show the world today how tough things can be playing in Saskatchewan. I hope SSK wins by 4+ cmon fellas clinch home field and make a statement to every body in the league that this really is a undesirable environment to be a guest in!! But at the end of the day just play Rider football and get all the running and easy yards you can get. Go Sheet O, D, and Special Teams! Nothing easy for BC.
sincerely
Go Green!!!
Horse manure. That is all. :thdn:
agreed.
Some just hate Durant for whatever reasons and love Willy. If Willy was the “superstar” some make him out to be then as a coach,GM,offensive coordinator,it would make zero sense to not have them in. These guys get paid or fired by the teams success, not the individuals players. I can’t possibly believe Chamblin, Tahman,Cortez would jeopardize their careers on any “secret mission” to go with Durant instead of who they think can win it for the team.
I will say I think Willy should have been used more when things were obviously not working. That being said there has to be a practical reason for the Coach not doing so. If the Riders don’t do well this year that is the time to be looking at coaches decisions, player’s abilities.
I would love to not see another word mentioned about Willy being all that for the rest of this year. The Riders as a team and an organization have hitched their wagon to Durant that is obvious, so management will be judge according to the success or failure of doing so.
When the team is not playing well, Everyone knows the most popular player for the Riders is always the back up Quarterback. It's been like that since the beginning of time.
Lets Say Durant was gone, And Willy was the starting QB. if the team goes into a bit of a skid, and the offence isnt playing well, then everyone would be calling for Sunseri.
Realistically Anthony Calvillo lost more Grey Cup starts than he won... I guarantee if he was a Rider, the fans would have been calling for his head..
I agree... the Durant haters need to go away. He is an elite QB in the CFL. The doubters need to go away and just let him do his thing...
As for the game today, I am encouraged that the team has had a good week of practice. It will be a close game... And I think they play well enough to win.
Riders 28 - BC 22
Well that was an interesting first half for sure. When Sheets busted it for 40 yards I thought this may be the game it comes together. Oops protect the ball Kory. Then the Simon fumble and I thought this could be a nightmare. The defense stood tall again and the miss handled ball by DeMarco that led to the first Rider td was huge. A few more forced turnovers was the difference in this game. The “roughing the passer” penalty that took a td off the board for the defense was a friggen joke.
Offense was dead once again in the second half and I’m at a lost to explain it. Any of the positives they did in the first half were completely abandoned again in the second. I really am getting a bad feeling about them getting caught up in Sheets beating Cornish. I hope I’m wrong but can think of no other explanations. Yes the weather was ugly but it’s only going to get worse and the passing game cannot be forgotten.
Positives were the Riders capitalizing on the turnovers enough to get a big lead and worth a second mention the defense is really getting it done. If the Riders are to go all the way it looks like it will be up to the defense to continue to shine.
Very good though they did wrap up at least on home playoff game especially if it’s against BC. Indoors The lions may have the advantage but outdoors tips the scale towards the green and white.
Off to cow town next week so once again the D must step up and shut corndog and Glenn down.
Man, we were on the grass at Taylor for a few hours before the game, and when it started raining it was just brutal. Not cold at all, but it was like the ball had been oiled. The turf was pretty good, but I was amazed at how hard throwing the ball was. Totally understand the fumbles.
Entertainimg game
I was Impressed with Durant’s post game interview. It has been well documentated about the offence struggles as of late, and the team only puts up 4 points in the last half.
Durant did throw quite a few out of bounds to avoid BC pressure, and in the interview, said that he did not force the ball into bad situations… He stated he did not want to hurt the team, and when they had all that momentum and the fans in the game, I think he made the right choice.
BC does have a good defence… Best in league in some categories… So for the team to put up 35 points in tough weather conditions… I am happy with that performance
Now they just have to carry this 3 game win streak into McMahon next week and tame some ponies!
Go Riders go!
Fantastic game - the cold and wet just seemed to go away when we starting pounding up the points.
I agree that the DD Haters just need to go away. Some people are just wired to be negative and are only happy when they are b!tching about someting - like Oscar from Corner Gas.
Now time to gear up for a home playoff game.
Go Riders Go.
