Riders say okay to Taman....

.....I guess the Bomber brass have their eye on Brendan Taman, for an interview ,as they asked and were given permission to talk to him.....I don't know about this move....Why go back into the past....one in which Taman was not a 'glorious' success involving the Bombers....We gave away our draft pics faster than they could be listed...We suffered a great deal with Tamans inability to bring in key players for key positions...example / kicker and qb....I don't want to go back to those days....John Murphy has shown he is more than competent in the role of finding talent....so why on earth do we need Taman...Brendan said he was 'burnt out' and needed a rest when he left....i think he should continue on in that mode...Sorry, i bid a final adieu to the Taman/Bomber association...and i hope it stays that way....Time to move forward not backward.. :? Just my opinion...

I really hope they don't bring back Taman. I agree completely with your assessment of his time in Winnipeg. I'd prefer Murphy over Taman for the VP position any day.

I really don't think this is a bad move papa, honestly Taman is familier with the organization and the BOD and he has made some amazing trades/signings in the past. Example last year when he brought in Moreno, Ellis, Samuels etc. the Bombers went on one heck of a run and i feel if it wasn't for Berry we could have possibly made it to the GC under Taman.

Also remember when he stole Edwards from Montreal, that was awesome, of course Edwards is showing major signs of wear now, too many injuries. Taman's only downfall was finding a #1 QB, but granted they are hard to come by. If Taman was still here this past season i don't think we would have witnessed the QB situation we witnessed, i believe we still would have had Glenn and maybe Dinwiddie, who both have proved that they can win games and be effective.

Also heard that the Bomber's are close to a trade with BC for the Jacksons (Jarious and Paris), rumour is LeFors, Edwards, Walls and a low draft pick are being shopped to BC, no confirmation of this rumour yet, but it has come from a most reliable source within the Bomber orginazation. Bombers are also showing interest in Jyles and/or Joseph. Santos, DiMicheal have already been told that they will be in TC in 2010, Bramlet will be there as well but is likely to be one of the first QB cuts due to his lack of moblity, not grasping the CFL game, not able to read a CFL Defense and his age (29).

We will see how it plays out.

Been there, done that. If I were a Bomber fan I think I would rather see some fresh blood in management. If Greg Marshall also returns to Winnipeg, do these moves really put you ahead of where you were two years ago?

And Buono wouldn't even trade Paris Jackson by himself for all of the Bomber players mentioned in the trade rumor mentioned in the previous post. Dudes, you will have to give up Heffney, Labatte or Bowman to get anything of value.

He may have brought in some good players but look at his record. The best season the Bombers had while he was GM was 2007 when we went to the GC and that record was 10-7-1. His other 4 years were either at (1 season) or below (the other 3) .500. During his 5 years as GM he traded away our 1st round pick almost every year (exception being 2008) and most years we also didn’t have a 2nd round pick as well (2 exceptions). We found out this past season about a number of huge bonuses he negotiated into contracts that really hurt us cap-wise. No thanks to Taman.

So you are saying Bishop is done, and that BC thinks Lefors is the way to go  Roll eyes is for Lefors to BC, would not surprise me a bit if Bishop is not in the plans at all. Or is it you just mentioned all Bomber QB`s except Bish because you just dont like him?

Let me get this straight…the deal for the Jackson five is almost done, but they are wanting to still bring in Joseph and or Jyles. So you might have JJ, KJ,Jyles,Santos,DiMicheal and Bramlet all at camp. Out of all those guys JJ is really the only one that has shined at all. the others could be all on the CFL scrap heep by late next spring. Santos has never thrown a CFL pass,Bramlet has never completed a CFL pass, Jyles has shown nothing, the others are total unknowns and probably will never amount to anything. JJ has never played outside of BC, so is also a unknown in that respect.

I thought you said you were only going to post as paulpearson? Why are you posting using your other screen names again?

Not sure why, but seems to be a problem logging in etc??

At any rate I was only asking about your claim of supposed inside info, only asking you to back it up is all, but apparently you would sooner argue about me it seems.

You made a pretty grand claim of having all this inside info, can you back it up? According to your info its possible that JJ,KJ,Jyles may all be in camp in 2010, sounds hard to believe they would get JJ,KJ and Jyles all in camp, because your posts with its and/or and that the deal for both Jacksons is almost done. I would think that to get JJ,KJ and Jyles would/might cost a pretty penny, afterall how many coaches and GMs will Bombers still be paying this year, what about the cap etc.

You may well be right about them not wanting Bishop back.

Can you back up your claims at all, is all I am saying, there are huge holes in your theory if ya dont mind me saying.

Might have been more believable had you said, Bombers are looking at all options at QB says my sources. Possible candidates are JJ,KJ and Jyles, but no you report that it`s almost a done deal for both Jacksons, and still Bombers are interested in KJ and/or Jyles.

Is BC really ready to part with either Jackson? And they want Lefors as compensation? That part has me saying LOL. I might have posted your thread on April Fools day

Who has BC have at qb, think about it. Printers is like 1-4 as a starter, but yes we all agree they are keeping him I think. Buck has got some real head injurie concerns, Lulu has done nothing other than run! so they are going to give up Jackson, for Lefors??? Wally is not an idiot

Hey B-Fans, just a question here while I'm a-trolling around, our forum is dead these days. Not following very closely Taman's days with BB, (other than the very basic accomplishments, deals, etc), is there a general feeling amongst your fan base (other than what I read here), that possibly Taman could have been more effective if it wasn't for all the other distractions? This being the case, wouldn't another kick at the cat as GM with some fresh blood for HC supporting him be a consideration? I never felt he had a fair shake.

I agree, but maybe the board feels he was under Bauers thumb too much and deserves his own opportunity ?

Not too sure either.

Taman is still connected with the Kelly and Bauer era, having said that I believe the BB just like my Argos have to start fresh, with new faces from top to bottom.

He may not be a "fresh face" but if I was running the show in either Winnipeg or Toronto, I'd be giving Mike McCarthy a call. He's underemployed as a scout with Montreal. I'd have him higher on my wish list than Taman.

There are several of us that would like that move over Taman.

…I believe McCarthy is on our radar, MadJack…He sounds like a man with fresh ideas and that’s what this club needs…He also sounds like he has good knowledge of the game…I imagine the bod will give some serious thought to his application as i also read, he is very interested in the job…we’ll see…

McCarthy should definitely be considered. NO to Taman and YES to trading for Jarious Jackson! I do believe that Wally would be crazy to make the deal with the players mentioned but I'd like to see JJ here.

…keeping track of potential talent on napkins is a little ‘weak’…lets say…Although…( now i’m really going to go off the track here)…i was in London , England a few years back and went to the British Museum…where i viewed, under a locked case the first scrbblings of a couple of Beatle songs…written by Lennon and McCartney (she loves you & i want to hold your hand)…The lyrics were scribbled on a …yes you guessed it …a napkin from the restaurant they frequented…Did Taman have the same success with his scribblings??? I’ll leave that up to the best people to pass judgement on that…the fans… Personnaly…i don’t think Brenden had that many hits…Man it’s going to be a loooooooong off-season…

He tells the story of having a great idea when the only napkin around was a Kotex

KELLYFANATIC OR PAULPEARSON OR WHATEVER … You misread my post #1, i stated that the Bombers are close to possibly completing a trade with BC for the Jacksons and the BB player’s i mentioned were IN THE MIX, not saying that will be the final deal, if the deal actually goes down. Point is i feel based on what i have heard that Bishop WILL NOT be back in Blue and Gold, he has no contract therefore why would he be in a trade mix as he is open season to ANY team anyway’s. Remember BC has Printers and Pierce and as well a pretty good third stringer in Lulay, i am not sure why LeFors name was in the mix since Printers and Pierce will be battling for the starting job with Lulay and maybe Champion as third string and Practice Roster. I just post what i know and the names were LeFors, Edwards, Gavin Walls and a low draft pick (probably 1st round), i am not saying that more player’s are not in the mix cause i cannot confirm that.

I also stated that the Bombers MAY be interested in Jyles or Joseph, again you misread my post or i was not clear, IF the BC trade FAILS the Bombers are interested in either Jyles or Joseph, i don’t know what player’s they would need to give for whatever QB they go after, but i know they are chasing a few QB’S, for crying out loud 3 days ago Ricky Rays name was mentioned as trade bait (Winnipeg Sun) but personally i find that hard to believe as Edmonton would be nothing without Ray. My point is i read the newspapers, i watch all sports channels and i know people in the Bomber office enough to know what and who the BB’S may be after.

As far as Bishop goes that would be the new GM and Coaches call whether to bring him back, i find no harm in Bishop being in camp, if it were not for Bish we would have had a worse year than we had. I am not a Bishop hater nor am i a huge fan, but if he had a camp and pre-season under his belt he VERY WELL could be #1 in the PEG, but again that is up to the new coach and GM. Also you cannot write off any QB’S we have such as Santos, DiMicheal etc. these two are only kids early 20’s, give them a chance and build around them like MTL is doing with MacPherson and Sask DID with Durant. WE CANNOT KEEP CHASING QB’S, WE NEED TO GROOM ONE. You stated that Santos and DiMicheal have not even thrown a pass in the CFL, well newsflash EVERY QB in the league started somewhere, there was a point when qb’s such as Calvillo, Joseph, Glenn, Ray, Durant were in the same spot. It is rare for a QB to jump right in and be 2ND string, never mind a starter.

As far as the Bomber team for 2010 goes, NO ONE is GUARANTEED to make the team, we need as much competition as possible at EVERY position, i feel the only player’s that will be on the team are Jovon johnson (if we can re-sign him), Heffney and Brown everyone else will have to come into camp ready to COMPETE. We have many question marks as much as we don’t like to admit such as QB our Linebackers (Lobedahn, Charlton etc.) will they even be here, there are no guarantees as Lobedahn is too injury prone and Charlton is a good player but NOT GREAT, everyone is trade bait at this point, but do not expect the BB’S to trade away who they have for no one (been there-done that) we would need solid trade value in return as WE ARE REBUILDING.

Ok... The napkin thing... I'd be curious to see how this was replaced ?

Do you think if Murphy leaves today (for the sake of argument only) that he will be leaving behind an intelligible copy of all his work behind ?

Having said that. I think Brendan is making a huge mistake by getting in to these types of discussions with the press. Its great that he has their support but I think it will hurt his chances because every time he does that he proves the point why his appointment prevents a fresh start for the organization.

…I think your bang-on with your Brendan take…He does not want to appear to be the ‘darling boy’ of the media in the Peg…You don’t get a job because you’re necessarily ‘just well liked’…You better have more than that going for you to merit the position…ANYWAY…Another name is becoming very prominent for the COACHING job…someone who would be known quite well to Als. fans…Tim Burke…Does this rumour have any credibility ???..He’s certainly paid his dues in the CFL…HMMMMMMM???
