CALGARY — The Saskatchewan Roughriders came away with a 29-26 overtime victory over the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday night, capping a thrilling game from McMahon Stadium.
The two most idiotic coaching moves I’ve seen in the last 20 years. First Saskatchewan goes on third and two and gets stuffed instead of kicking a field goal and forcing Calgary to march the field and score a touchdown. Instead the Riders give the opportunity to only have to get 50 yards and then kick a field goal to tie. Then the second dumb and dumber coach allows his QB to throw a pass. Calgary should have run the ball until they were stopped and then kick another field goal to tie. One of the oldest and truest football sayings is “there are three things that can happen when you throw the ball and two of them are bad”. In the second mini series Calgary coaches should have said Do Not Put the Ball In the Air
He made the call the call to win and not to tie in double OT. The pass rush was in the QBs face. It was second down, the QB has the job of throwing a TD pass if the play is there…OR… If the play is not thete, to throw the damn ball into row 23 of the stands, and use the third down to tie the game. The west is a tough nut to make 1,2,3 at the end of the season and the play call to win for two points in the standing and to try and win the season serries vs the riders was the correct call.
The Cowtown coach made the right call
The Cowtown QB, well he Farged up.
I agree on it being the QB that “Farged up.”
As for the Riders coaching decision, the call to go for it on 3rd and 1 with a a minute something left to go was 100% the right call. The Riders make that (which the odds say teams generally do) and its game over. Kicking a FG to go up 6 and then having to kickoff with teams generally getting to around the 45 yard line on returns with over a minute left would not have been the right call IMHO. The call that really had me scratching my head was going to 2 pts (to try and go up 12) instead of 1 (which would have been an 11 pt advantage) after their last TD. That was the wrong call.
There’s another old and true saying; hindsight is 20/20. To bad neither coach had your crystal ball to know the outcome on what were reasonably good calls on risk/reward odds.
PPS: Great pic. Total classless move from the Riders, yet again. For a team that got the shit beaten out of them last year - they lost 7 in a row? LMFAO - you’d think they’d show a little humility. No kidding Riders are the joke of the league.
Are you referring to the riders celebrating after they won a close game in overtime? Yeah, so classless… I’ve never seen a team do that before. It’s even easier to celebrate on the road when their is more green in the stands than red. Your fan base is weak and based on your comment they lack intelligence as well.
You got a bunch of grown ass men playing a game… Childish and exuberant sillyness in after the win celibrstions is a tradition to men who still think like kids in the playground with no supervision. every single team does this stuff…
.lest you also forget Cornish exposing his ass to rider fans during a win in Regina…so who is the classless team. Stop your childish crybaby antics
It’s what this forum does best lol… the rider hate in here runs very deep.
I would expect nothing less than claims of cheating , declarations of being classless and worse …. Every time the riders win
They forget their own teams do the same thing ……
So take it as a good thing that they didn’t give them actually things to complain about …… it’s kinda like Fonzie being unable to say sorry …. They can’t bring themselves to say …… good game lol
