CFL.ca presents ‘Off-Season Depth Chart’, a series of articles reviewing every team’s depth chart at is stands to date. Note that these are not official team-issued depth charts, but projections based on insight and analysis from around the league, and don’t include 2022 CFL Draft picks.
Riders are a mixed bag for me. To mimic a quote regarding an emotional Premier League manager, nobody will mistake Cody for a “box of balloons”. Will he take the next step? We’ll see. I like their receivers - Duke & Shaq have the potential to be very disruptive. Their OL lost another guy this week & could use a little more depth. And the RB position has to be considered a question mark.
They may have the best LB corps in the CFL. The DL lost both DT’s & Woodard. Does the newly signed Hughes still have it? Finally, are the new guys @ DB going to make up for the loss of 2 playmakers in Gainey & Purifoy? I was surprised that both were essentially offered deals that made them look elsewhere.
I can see the Riders challenging for top spot but it’s going to be a pressure cooker. After being ousted the last 3 years, a Grey Cup appearance would seem to be the minimum requirement. Otherwise - could be big changes in Regina. Remember, the leaders of the coaching group go back to 2016 & have experienced some good regular season success.
Agreed. Cody is still a big question mark IMO. Not to detract from his and the Riders success in recent years.
Craig Dickenson and his brother Dave are both excellent coaches IMO. They have deserved a better fate in the playoffs.
Glad to see Purifoy gone. Great athlete, but his post-restaraunt kefuffle press conference with Coach D revealed Purifoy to be an irresponsible ying-yang.
I'm not sure who created this depth chart, but it looks like a sad effort by someone who doesn't watch the team. I mean there are players lined up in the wrong spots all over the place
