REGINA — The Toronto Argonauts got used to seeing Corey Mace’s defence dominate opposing offences, but experienced what it’s like to be on the other side of it for the first time.
Gutsy win by Riders. They prove to me they are contenders. Meanwhile, Argos looked pretty rough. The tackling was comical, esp. Franklin. Discipline went out the window. Dumb penalties! Poor Dukes seem to panic from the onslaught. The coaches are going to have to read the riot act to these players. There was a time in the first half where I felt embarrassed for the league; the skill and effort was not there. Then again, maybe the Riders are that good. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
I enjoyed the first half of the game which was a slugfest of powerful men ( the powerful running backs on both teams were halted) and I was not surprised as injuries piled up. I thought the second half might be the same despite several injuries as big men had to leave the game. The Riders passing game was a pleasant surprise as the quarterback completed many difficult throws, while the Argo turnovers dramatically altered the style of the game in the second half. The upshot was too many turnovers but it was still a hard-fought contest.
A defining game as patterson showed he can get the job done as sask Rrs #1 qb. A defining game to say the least as the riders can now move on from ole brittle man trevor harris who has not earned nearly one iota of his ridiculous salary contract since joining the roughriders. Time to move on with a wayyy younger patterson at the controls for now while a world wide search to bring in more qb’s for development starting with Mason Fine as the backup until the riders find a genuine gem of a find for the long term, maybe they have their #1 man right under their nose with patterson, could be. Reality is riders can now move on from trevor harris while making some very valuable team salary cap space.
Can Anyone just say their team got outplayed when they lose a game. It was a hard and contested fight in the trenches and the secondary for the riders. The Green came up big with five forced turnovers from thee team simply playing very good D on those 5 plays.
There was and is very very little reason to think of the Argos just totally falling apart and freely gifting the win.
Especially at the end after the last 3 pointer … Trying toforcing the Riders with a rookie QB to two and out they just did not give up and let the rookie to succeed . The riders FULLY earned this win, and the rookie overcame huge adversity over a good team with an extremely good Defense.
Simply a matter of the Argos getting outplayed when it mattered.
In no way was this the Riders rolling over and playing dead or just all on Dukes playing bad. Nor was it the Argos giving up. The Rider D put enormous on the the entire opposition when it mattered and the Rider O doing much the same wh.the game really mattered too
Cameron Dukes, you cost the Argonauts a victory with your ill advised throws for interceptions into riders double/triple coverage, thanks Mr. Dukes for nothing, riders think their good, but they’re still questionable.
Haha, try not to choke on those sour grapes. If you watched and listened during the game you’d hear that the riders defence was throwing a lot of confusing looks out that a young quarterback might not pick up. Low and behold it worked, riders just beat a good team with a backup qb playing in his first cfl game. Give credit where Credit is due.
