Don't blame the coach for having guys like Sheets and Dressler and Durant at his disposal.
Really, Austin or Hufnagel over Chamblin? Are you joking? First of all, Huf couldn’t win a playoff game to save his life, and Austin was dominated 3 times this year by Chamblin. That is fact!!! :rockin:
I thought Austin setting a record for number of players dressed for games and still finishing where they did was impressive. I mean, this was a literally a ground up tryout at every single position and revamping of the entire squad. I tend to think the Cats will look great in his 2nd year.
It is not like Chamblin did not have to struggle through some bad things though. Alls-star MLB / defensive leader Williams down and out, starting QB hurt ribs and foot, legal issues causing distractions, etc.
Either was deserving. To me, the difference was the outcome of the Cats / Riders head to heads in the regular season. had those been split, or even close, I may lean towards Austin more. Sorry...37-0...when do you see a goose-egg in the CFL?
Huff's team, IMO, was not as good as the season before, so to me he was out.
True you guys did beat us 3 times and did dominate, but you also found a way to lose to both of the sadsacks last year, losing to a 3-15 B.B team and an 4-14 Eskimo squad
The Riders also lost games versus both Toronto and Montreal from that “weak division” as well as the lose vs the B.B’s
That is fact!!! Grey Cup and head to head aside the Riders only had 1 more win than the Cats in regular season(11-7) to (10-8)both teams finished in 2nd place in their divisions, both teams took out the 2012 Cup Finalists on the road in their home stadiums to go to the Cup.The Riders were 8-1 out of the gate, but only went 3-6 down the stretch before going 2-0 in the play-offs.The Cats were 1-4 out of the gate, but went 9-4 down the stretch before going 2-0 in the play-offs.
The Cats won the coveted “Ballard Cup” The Riders lost the coveted “Banjo Bowl” When you add it all up,it don’t mean a hill of beans when it comes to the COY Award, because it don’t matter what happens, the Riders won the Cup,so the lazy boneheads in the media who vote for this award automatically give it to the Grey Cup winning coach regardless of what happened in the regular season…it’s the easy and lazy vote for them…No thought process involved whatsoever when you really think about it. IMO Sad to say…but that is fact !!! Like I said before,if they’re just going to give it to Grey Cup coach regardless than change the name of it or just mothball it altogether.
In light of the recent news about Cory "I'm a GREAT COACH" and his dismissal after going 0-9 this season and a strong 2-16 over his last 18 games coached, I thought it would be fun and interesting to open up the vault and take a trip back in time to 2013 when this very same Corey Chamblin was deemed to be the Best coach in the league and just see what we were all saying about the subject of his award and who wins the coveted  COY Award in the CFL and why. I just finished rereading the thread and I have to say it was both an interesting and amusing thread to say the least.
