Defence simply HAS to be better if we have any chance of winning this game.
We need to knock Harris on his arse as early and often as possible. A rattled Harris is a turnover machine.
The LBs have to account for the dink-and-dunk ball-control offence that eats up time and yardage.
The DBs simply cannot allow receivers to sit open with nobody within 10yards of them.
The O-line has to be better in run-blocking. Bo had lots of time in the pocket, so I’m not concerned about pass-blocking, but our RBs and FBs need the holes opened so that the Offence doesn’t become one-dimensional.
Receivers have to catch passes. There were too many easy drops last game - a clear lack of concentration (I’m looking at YOU, Timmeh). Even thought Lawlor is supposed to be an elite pass-catcher in the League, the amount of double- and triple-coverage Bo threw into is concerning. I couldn’t tell if other receivers were open, if Bo didn’t or couldn’t see them, or if they were so inept that one defender could cover multiple players. Hopefully film study has helped address this.
It’s going to be a tough game, and on the night the team FINALLY retires Garney’s number they better be ready to perform from the opening kickoff.
The Lawler part is a great point, he always felt like he was surrounded by guys every time they threw to him, made some good catches and everything but there’s gotta be receivers waving wide open that it feels like Bo ignores trying to get Lawler established and boost his confidence or somethin.
