REPORT: WAKE WANTS OUT OF DEAL WITH LIONS

With training camp less than a month away, there appears to be one Lion who wants out of B.C.

According to CKNW Radio in Vancouver, last year's outstanding rookie and defensive player of the year Cameron Wake wants out of his existing contract with the Lions.

Wake has two years remaining on his current deal but he has received some interest from the NFL and his agent has found a technicality that could get his client out of the contract.

Who man .if this happens
What Happens to Other Contracts
Will we see a Run of Contract Breaches.

Trust the CFLPA to find a loop hole.

I guess I'm showing my age. I remember when you could talk to a person, shake his hand, look him in the eye, take his word, and trust him.

Contracts and handshakes dont exist any more I guess.

I hope the story is wrong, but really, nothing surprises me any more.

Too good for the CFL I am afraid.

Young, super talented means mega bucks in the NFL.

CKNW reported Wake was considering

trying to get out of his contract.

TSN says Wake's agent has stated that
his client is not looking to move

and will be happy to play
with the Lions this season.

They also said that there is no telling
how an arbitrator's ruling would impact

his desire to stay with BC or remain in the CFL.

POSSIBLE CONTRACT ISSUES

'The report goes on to state that
the CFLPA is in the process

of interviewing every player
who signed as a rookie
over the last year.

Once the interviews are complete,

the CFLPA will decide on
their course of action.'

They are checking to see if some CFL teams

failed to offer new players the chance
of signing a one-year deal plus an option

as opposed to a multi-year contract.

I don't think the CFLPA is trying to find a loophole
to void all these contracts, Sportsman,

they didn't even want to help
Cam Wake in the first place.

To me its a sleazy way to conduct yourself. A contract is a contract. Whatever happened to the good ole days when you shook someones hand and honoured your agreement.

Sleazy!

Call it what you will, if someone can get out of a contract they no longer want to be in, so be it. They know they will have to face the potential consequences down the road like being blackballed or whatever. They are making the decision to get out of the contract no matter what. And sometimes it just might make sense to that individual, again, you have to do what you have to do. You only go around once in life as they say.

If the player has an agent, as Wake does that this obviously was not the case. IF the team did not offer a one year deal to the player - any player with an agent - and that player signs a 3 year deal then bitches about being "locked in" to a contract they would only have their agent to blame as that would be the job of the agent to secure a contract suitable to their clients desires.

So, buck up there Cameron and play out the year and head to the nfl. I got news for you Cam, you don't fit the nfl mode for either a DE or DT, and I'm not sure you would make it as a LB but, all the power to you.

Or had Sazio shove a contract in one's face and shout "Sign!"

Mosca 3:16 for your reference.

Actually, if players and agents were not being given the option to sign a year-plus-an-option deal along with the multi-year choice, then that IS a big deal. If it's in the CBA, BOTH sides have to follow the rules.

Putting all cards on the table is a good thing.

Oski Wee Wee,

why is everyone so mad at the guy for trying to do what is best for him?

If he leaves, the Lions have only themselves to blame for signing him to conract with an escape claus in it. You'd think their lawyers would be able to come up with an air-tight contract.
