Report: Stamps could pivot to Shiltz on Thanksgiving Weekend presented by Purolator

CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders might make a shift at pivot.

Head coach Dave Dickenson said after practice on Tuesday that quarterback Matthew Shiltz has gotten more reps as the starter in practice, signaling a change might be in the near future.

They got nothing to lose.
The rest of the season is garbage time for the team so they might as well give the kid some REAL reps with Begelton

Why has the very stubborn coach Dave Dickenson not given Tommy Stevens a shot at the starting Pivot. :smirk: It’s time for John Hufnagel to ask Dave to bow out gracefully after this horrendous 2024 campaign. :exclamation:

A little late to be pivoting now I would say.

Why, is there a wall they need somebody to run into? Like Strevler that’s about all he can do.

Stevens is like a linebacker pretending to be a QB

It was very evident after two series in the preseason that Matt was a way better quarterback, better arm better scrambling better at reading better in every way possible yet sat him on the bench for the entire season. Yes, I do know he was injured in practice and was on the six game, but he should’ve been starting game one bye-bye Dave

More wrong with the stamps than the QB position… Much much more.

I have been following the career of Matthew Shiltz since 2017, and what has he done in the league?
Not much.
He has had his chances and either gets injured or fizzles out.
He is already 31 years old.
He has shown a few things in certain moments, he likes to take off running, I have seen him play decently under pressure, but nothing is ever consistent with him.
He has never played a full season as the #1 guy, and as noted above, he is 31.
He is lucky to still be in the league.

Because Shiltz is miles better.

Shiltz is a good QB and I was sorry to see him leave Hamilton. I hope that one day he gets a real chance to show his talent - maybe this game is it?

Simple. Look at Strevler. That’s the kind of QB Stevens is. A big body for when you need a yard or two.

I thought so too until I looked up our QB stats and realized that both Streveler and Zach weigh in at roughly 218 pounds each soaking wet.

Meanwhile Tommy Stevens packs a huge punch along the ground with a hulking 241 pound frame that takes no prisoners.
