TORONTO — It’s been just over a month since the Toronto Argonauts captured the 111th Grey Cup but it’s never too early walk down memory lane.

Why would I want to remember a completely irrelevant and ego fuelled visit by Harry? These people are so self important they don’t even have official last names! Just a title and a first name.

I think I’ll change my handle to Sir Harold

The Eye Candy of Prince Harry won’t distract CFL Fans from realizing the League is currently fumbling as no 2025 CFL Schedule has been released even “AFTER CHRISTMAS!!!”

He was there to promote the Invictus Games. Fair enough. I didn’t get the impression he had read up at all about Canadian football or the Grey Cup. Duthie asked the Prince that given his rugby experience, which position would he reckon he’d play in football. Harry didn’t understand the question the first 2 times he was asked and just blurted out Quarterback in the end.

Given the Grey Cup is engraved with “For the Amateur Rugby Football Championship of Canada”, the discussion would have been more engaging with a Rugby afficionado like Harry had he been made to understand the relationship between Canadian Football and his Rugby Union.

I doubt many cared what “Prince” Harry thought. I certainly don’t. Another celebrity that became a celebrity for no reason at all. They may as well have had Kim Kardashian on the show giving her opinion

All well and good but why the cfl would give him a platform and want to remind us all of being graced with his presence is beyond me

Ya I can appreciate those sentiments. I’m not a Harry fan or particularly infatuated with the royals. From the perspective of having a guest who has a rugby background at the championship of Canada’s highest level of football, some honest banter about the game would’ve been welcome. Duthie tried. Harry didn’t seem very interested.

I get your persepective and while it is nice of the no doubt very busy Harry to visit one of the colonies, I can never get past the royalty thing. As I am sure you know, all royalty exists because their ancestors were the best rapers, pillagers, mudererers, warmongers and thieves of their time, after which inbreeding ensures that the plundered treasure stays within the “family”. I don’t know Harry and have nothing against him personally, just the institution he represents. royalty is the most distatsteful concept on the planet I can think of and I also question why the CFL seeks to showcase it.

For those not paying attention to the replies, TSN gave Harry a platform because Harry is representing the Invictus games, which is sports for The Sports Network.

In other news, Harry quit the royals. He does not officially represent the Windsors. He is not on TSN as a royal.

I can’t agree with you. Harry was given a platform because he is “royalty”. If the chair of the Invictus Games was say an obscure British politician, there would be little chance of him appearing on the Grey Cup pre game show or even being in Canada for that matter. He is constantly referred to as “Prince Harry”, even in the title of this thread, not Mr. Harry Windsor.

He has never had to earn an honest living and has lived all of his life in extravagant fashion from the monies his family stole from the people. I don’t follow the abhorrent concept of modern royalty and don’t know all the details of Harry’s supposed break from princehood, but I doubt he has been left a pauper. If he wasn’t royalty his wife would still be working as an actress and no doubt be the primary breadwinner. Harry Windsor has no discernible talent other than being born into the right family.

I feel like Prince Harry of royalty should meet Aaron Rodgers of self-annointed royalty for some reason, and they should have some YouTube channel to talk about themselves even more, but then they can get lost together and leave us all alone somewhat more.

I’m sure some folks will watch, but I’m going to pass.

Well, Harry was asked pretty much only about the Invictus Games (and casual banter about the Grey Cup). He wasn’t asked what he did last week, etc. His companion surely isn’t royal, unless being from Regina is close enough  .

Yes, unfortunately, he still holds the official title of Prince. His father has not taken that away from him (yet). When Prince William becomes king, I expect Harry’s title will be gone shortly afterwards, if not already stripped.

Regarding an honest living, he did serve in the military. But overall, I do agree with you. As for stealing money, etc., I’m not indigenous (nor am I white  ), so let’s talk about stealing…

Regarding his wife, Meghan is bad news. You would like her even less than you do the royals  . In any case, it’s going off topic. You can have whatever opinions you want about the royals. Doesn’t bother me a bit. But don’t let your opinions about them cloud your judgement on what Harry was on TV for… not that I care about the Invictus Games.

PS. If you had said that this fluff article is all about Harry, then I would have to agree with you.

PPS. If not for things like monarchy, we might still be clubbing each other over the head for food. Be careful when judging the past with modern glasses.

I don’t think I’m judging the past through any modern slant, but rather base my comments on historical fact.

Historically royalty (or similar offshoots such as dictatorships) was the province of the family or small group of people who raped, pillaged, murdered and stole the best. You can see it personified in various TV shows such as GOT, The Borgias and Rome to make but a few. Queen Elizabeth wasn’t worth north of $6 billion because her family earned it. It was stolen from the people, or should I say sheeple, who paid taxes to her family for their personal use while simultaneously being dumb enough to pay all her expenses.

Royalty may be the worst concept in the world. It is the father of the sense of entitlement in the world today and is in fact entitlement personified. It manages to be racist (blue blood BS), entitled, murderous and misogynist (women are passed over because they lack male anatomy) at the same time.

I don’t follow royalty and despise the concept to its core. To me it is no different than following mass murderers and publicizing and exhalting the perpetrator of mass shootings. The sooner royalty is extinguished as a concept the better. Prince Harry is just another inbred loser who never had to earn anything.
