I agree that it was one of the biggest mistakes by a team (we might want to analyze some ref errors in some historic games here too) but there could be debate on the "greatest finish". If we mean the very end then it wasn't great... it was pathetic.
It was a fantastic comeback.
I could think of other Cups where the ending was just as exciting... like when these same Riders beat my 'Cats in 1989. All that last second scoring was pretty exciting too but it involved ties and lead changes rather than a big comeback.
Exactly, esksfan… the thing is, that what HfxTC doesnt seem to understand that there is a fine line between trash talking and just being annoying… and he crossed it. Just like RLR… I suggest you read some of his posts… he trashed talked that the BC-Montreal GC game in 06 wasn’t close… then proceeded to annoy just about everyone here about the Lions were going to roll over the rest of the league in 07… didn’t happen… Hfx, if you want to talk about the first game of the upcoming season fine… but your method is all wrong… just like RLR, this whole thread is unnecessary… :thdn:
I was the 13th Man on November 29th, and the 13th man the day after! I will be the 13th man when my heart is beating, and I will be the 13th man after my time on Earth is done.
Indeed like Chief said, it’s really been a very long offseason with some of these posts present company sometimes just bored at work included.
I second this motion and was about to suggest this thread be locked before the bickering spirals too much to cloud other fine posts, including sometimes not about the CFL, each week. All the same though I can’t blame passionate fans for sticking up for their teams as we all do it.
Only Rider fans think Montreal was lucky to win the grey cup.
Not true.
I’m an Als’ fan, and I’ll readily concede that my team won the Grey Cup due to a large amount of luck.
The Als were dominant in the second half. They showed true character to fight back to where they were in a position to win the game and hence the Cup with a last play field goal.
But Duval missed it.
And there it would have ended, but for the Riders having too many men on the field.
So yes, luck played a part in the Als’ win, to the extent that you can call it lucky that the Riders had too many men on the field.
Duval said he lifted his head when the flags started flying but let’s say your right. Not making a play is one thing but the sheer stupidity of having 70 people on the sideline and not ONE realize there was too many of them out there is entirely different than a non call or a missed assignment.
Even if the Als lose on Canada day it wont put a ring on the 13th. Tribe
You are correct it won’t. And neither would you showing some class ever make you a decent fan. If I was part of the Al’s organization I would consider you an embarrassment. Since you are clearly not a CFL fan why even post here?
The point is that the league opener pits Montreal against Saskatchewan. Trash talking is permitted in the main forum and your moral judgment means nothing to me, this is fair game.
A win is a win, comes with a big trophy, big bonus and a big ring for the players of the winning team. I took the 2008 loss like a big boy and gave props to the Stamps.
Who is RLR
I thought Montreal played a heck of a game - the grey cup for the most part was exiting and although a bitter loss for the riders it again demonstrated why the CFL is more exciting then the NFL. Not only is there sore losers - there are sore winners. Kudos to the Al’s organization and real fans for keeping it real and respectful. We know posts like yours are not supported by them or indicative of them.
Maybe some of you like me were revived in part by the homepage of the site showing the first weekend of games scheduled? There is even a countdown! They are giving us just a taste at last and the wait is almost over!
With you Artie, I can't tell if you are being sarcastic. But in case you aren't, the answer is yes. They don't have a holiday for the first Monday in August but is replaced by St. Jean Baptiste Day (Jun 24).
Ah c’mon Chief don’t make it sound like that Lent you know. We are not being pressured to give anything else up.
I’ll be interested in following my first CFL preseason to see who is cut in the next few weeks and all the roster-shuffling including the undrafted NCAA draft dudes migrating up there and the CFL/NFL revolving door I dread.
