Things are dire attendance wise and ownership wise in TOR
Hamilton fans saw the Argos more than twice. It’s too much of a good thing and took away from the spectacle of Labour Day. BC had a storyline that every CFL market needed to see in their own city. The fact that didn’t happen in such a small league is ridiculous.
Actually, pre-pandemic, the league had a balanced schedule (or as close as possible) for many years. That’s when the east-west disparity became obvious.
So maybe the league should just appease and bend over backwards for Toronto and all 12 of their fans and just schedule Hamilton for all nine home games at BMO then ? The other nine games can all be road games at one per team against the West and two each against the REDBLACKS and Alouettes .
It’s not the Argo fans that benefit from having Hamilton visit regularly, it’s the Ticat fans!! If the Ticats play two games at BMO every season it’s the same as having two extra home games for Hamilton fans
As I wrote earlier - I’d rather see the other eight teams (home and away) than see seven of the other eight teams AND the Allouettes three or four times.
I’m sure the CFL has done the research, looked at the ratings, attendance and then decided that the provincial rivalries are the way to go.
owners are cheap is the reason.
nothing to do with any fear of any team being afraid of playing any other team.
just cheap owners.
without the owners we don’t have a CFL. Can’t blame them for trying to cut back when attendance at 5 out of the 9 teams has been declining. I would never have thought that Edmonton would sink so low in attendance, BC Lions even with a CDN QB has had a steady decline, in Calgary they are closing off sections of the stadium because of declining attendance, Toronto continues with their 10k - 12k fans, Montreal not much better.
Riders and Bombers doing well, great fans. Hamilton and Ottawa doing good too.
Just hope that fans return, can’t blame the owners, it’s the fans or lack of fans that’s the problem.
Good teams win on the road
Bad teams only win at home
Grey Cup is neutral
Its funny how you (and certain others) keep claiming Toronto was “gifted” a Grey Cup since they played an “easy” opponent from Manitoba
Yet somehow (on the flip side) Toronto would surely have lost vs the mighty Stampeders instead
Only works (as is) with a 16 game season (so every team gives up a home date)
Or get all the western cry babies to pitch in and build a stadium in the Maritimes lol
I think you’re giving them too much credit.
I doubt the Argos would have gotten lucky twice.
Lets go single division and find out.
Not at all
They change the schedules all the time going back and forth between more games in division to more games out of division to a somewhat balanced equation and back again
No need to
All we need to see is Toronto defend title vs Winnipeg and ta da
2-0
Great… let’s see them defend on an even playing field, not coming out of a weak division and unbalanced schedule. That would be good for the game and lend some credibility to the process.
I know I’m supposed to hate the Argos but the amount of salt they generate in the west is truly a magnificent thing.
Well done Pinball.
I don’t hate the Argos. I just have no respect for them, much the same as I respect the teenager who works his butt off to buy a car over the one whose parents just hand him the keys.
nah, it’s good. Unless you are on the BC coast, you don’t really get to experience the salty air.
this level of salt is healthy for our friends in the west.
So, what are you saying? “Bad teams only win at home” Ottawa cannot win at home. Following your logic Ottawa should be a good team, then. The CFL is an enigma. But I’m sure that is part of their allure.
