Halfway through the season, what are your opinions of the 2nd string QBs so far this year? My take:
BC: Buck Pierce: A
Steps in for Dickenson, and Lions hardly miss a beat.
Calgary: Danny McManus: C
Veteran leadership but let's face it he's on the downside of his career
Edmonton: Jason Johnson: no grade
I have not seen him play at all this year, but I have not been able to watch all of Edmonton's games
Saskatchewan: Rocky Butler: A
Can't rate Crandell since he only got in a series or so, but Butler came on and was very effective, doing exactly what a backup should do; pick it up and get the win
Winnipeg: Mike Quinn: F
Didn't see the game, but from all reports it was pretty bad
Hamilton: Kevin Eakin: F
I did see his disaster, and that's exactly what it was. Deer in the headlights.
Toronto: Spergon Wynn: D
Ineffective, can't move the team, can't sustain drives
Montreal: Nealon Greene: D
Two brief appearances, two interceptions. Nuff said.
Actually, we’ve seen Jason Johnson once this past weekend… On the very last play of the game. What grade must that give him, eh?
As for Greene, he has throwned two interceptions in a grand total of six pass attempts, and he already fumbled twice. Could it be any worse? I can’t explain at all why Brady isn’t our official backup. In preseason games, Brady has shown much more football-intelligence, while Greene was just trying to pull out a big play. Brady should be our man.
Totally agree Third. After we picked up Brady and Quincy Carter, I couldn't understand the trading of Almondo Curry to get Greene. Since he's been with the team, he has lived down to my expectations.
Greene is what he is; there is no more growth potential, what we see is what we get. Brady on the other hand has upside; growth potential; can learn and improve under Calvillo, so I'd put him as second as well.
Only thing keeping Greene #2 is the fact that for some reason the Don likes him. Matthews brought him to Toronto, then traded to get him when he was in Edmonton.
Best thing to say about Nealon Greene? He isn't Ted White.

Cant argue with that. Greene is horrible, atleast give the playing time to Brady. I'd rate Greene a F
