Question about last Western playoff spot

So I’ve been reading from the main talking heads on CFL that Calgary has to win out and Saskatchewan has to lose out for Calgary to make it in. Does that narrative seem incorrect and lazy?

If CGY beats SK this week, do they not have the tiebreaker and just have to match the Roughriders record?

Calgary’s chances to make it to the West Semis would be much greater if they win this week and only need 1 of 2 against WPG or BC, but not so certain they can sweep through.

If SK wins their last game against TO, then yes a sweep is necessary. And yes if the Riders win, then their spot is sealed.

This is exactly right. Calgary has to beat Saskatchewan this week and then match the Riders record which doesn’t mean the Stamps have to win out their remaining games.

Absolutely ridiculous that my team still has a playoff chance here…but I’ll take it

Predicting the stamps get in the playoffs. They have a better team right now

Is it to late to for the Stamps to trade for Tre Ford?

Funny but I kept hearing the same thing and it didn’t make sense to me either because they will have the same number of losses if Calgary wins this week. They will also have the season series in that event. The link below to a recent site generated thread says that Calgary controls their own destiny if they win this week. So if Calgary wins out they are in no matter what. If they win this week they could still be in with only one more win if Saskatchewan loses out. I think they will win this week and then we’ll have to see. Calgary still has to play BC and Winnipeg but it’s possible those games will be meaningless for their opposition.

You’d think the article writers shouldn’t have such a hard time with this. Its not like trying to figure out the tiebreakers for the Briers or Scotties.

Short form is Calgary has a game in hand, A win this week and they win the season series vs. the Riders so all they need is one more win to tie the Riders and take over third.

If Calgary wins this week then in Week 21 the Bombers can pick BC’s semi final opponent in Week 21 when they play Calgary.

Do you really think either team will get anywhere in the playoffs anyways, there’s no Kent Austin to make that happen on the riders side anyways, I don’t know if Maeir is there yet. Riders are in rebuild mode, this is kind of what I was expecting at the beginning of the year , yet hoping for more.

Go Riders.

Think I read somewhere that if the stamps miss the playoffs this will be the first time in modern CFL history that a team from Alberta isn’t in the playoffs…where did our orgs go so wrong eh?

Correction, riders in hoping to rebuild mode.
The cowtown QB ant to honest the team ain’t ready for a run in the playoffs. But certainly much more capable than the green team

The three worse teams are severely hampered with the spring leagues holding 900 players that would be available to play up here.
When was the last time cowtown did NOT get key players needed late in the season!

Rebuild mode?
When did that start?
I thought they were still in Collapse Mode

In past seasons this would be year one of a new gm and a new coaching staff

It should have been.
The Ops Cap has now hamstrung two once-proud franchises. That’s 22% of the league. Are they going for a sweep? Do they have to kill the whole league before they ditch this stupid idea?

Sorry, back on topic…
Riders win, they’re in.
