Is the amount of time a QB has to throw the ball tracked at all? Is there a stat for that?
I guess another way of looking at it is, how long before the pocket collapses.
I'm interested in knowing how the O-lines stack up against one another.
I think it's safe to say that the worst O-line is the one in Saskatchewan that allows Cody Fajardo to be sacked more than any other QB in this league... and he's fairly mobile too.
the worst O-line....ya think. Going into week 17 the Riders were sitting at 59 sacks. The three teams with the lowest sack totals had a combined 66 sacks. Of course the Riders added 7 more against Hamilton. If the Rider management does not bring in some quality O-linemen next year, I see a LOT of players leaving the organization as everyone knows you can't win with your QB laying on his back. No QB, of any quality, will sign to get hit like that. Receivers will not want to be here as the ball will never make to them and why would any defensive player want to be on the field 35 plus minutes game after game in a losing cause. Even if they are a stellar defense, if the offense keeps giving up the ball, they get worn down and the other team eventually scores more and you lose. If they lose the next home game against Calgary, I hope they fire most of the coaches, the GM and release ALL of the o-line at the end of the game. Bring in the O-line from the Regina Thunder Junior team for the last game. They cannot do any worse!
Not that I am bitter or anything.
No no, of course not.
the number you are looking for is referred to as Average time to throw and it is my understanding that teams do track this in the NFL. it is likely that some if not all CFL teams are doing some sort of QB timing data analysis, but i think it is based on time the ball leaves his hand or when he is sacked. i’m interested in this as well.
I think you are bang on in that you could find that stat for NFL teams if you looked hard enough but only individual CFL teams would have such stats.
i’ve seen it mentioned in sports data analysis. teams are somewhat protective of their own player specific stats but i am also quite certain NFL teams also scout opposing teams QB via data analysis tools. NHL and NHL teams do this for sure for literally every aspect of the game. sports math is dreamy.
well well this is neato. sorry i know it’s NFL. i cannot find any advanced QB metrics for CFL.
the columns under the pressure heading in particular
exactly this
i’d love to see some cfl advanced qb stats - would be cool to see Collaros and Rourke vs rest of league especially.
lol this particular stat is fun:
What, no 'steamboats'?
They do have a stat for Escape Runs or runs after a drop back.
Cornelius leads that with 42, followed by Fajardo with 34, MBT with 20 and Harris with 19.
With all those numbers that means to week 18, Fajardo spent 1 out of 16 games either being sacked or running for his life.
Surprising that with as much noise about O-lines from Hamilton that there is no Hamilton QB on that list.
