QB Mike McMahon to Toronto?(article)

Argos open talks with QB Mike McMahon

According to the Toronto Star, the Argos have opened talks with former Detroit Lions backup Mike McMahon and have placed J.T. O'Sullivan on their negotiation list.

With the future of quarterback Damon Allen still undecided and Michael Bishop's commitment to the Arena Football League, the Argos are looking at third-stringer Eric Crouch as their only quarterback under contract for next season.

McMahon was originally drafted by the Lions in 2001 and over the next four seasons he started all of seven games. After a one year stop in Philadelphia in 2005, he attended the Minnesota Vikings camp last summer but was among their final cuts.

O'Sullivan spent two seasons with the New Orleans Saints in 2002 before being traded to the Green Bay Packers, where he was dubbed Brett Favre's heir apparent. But after being released following the 2005 season, he spent most of this year on the practice roster of the New England Patriots. Late last month, he was signed to the Carolina Panthers practice roster.

If the Argos are bound and determined to sign an NFL backup, I hear 8-year NFL vet Mike Quinn is still available??

So's Ted White...............

I heard Rick Mirer might be available. Or maybe Ryan Leaf... :lol or Akili Smith... or Quincy Carter...oops...nevermind

i hear Doug Flutie used to be an NFL backup before coming to Canada... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

You guys are too funny. I thought Akili Smith has signed with Calgary.
Speaking of Doug Flutie, his buddy (not) from Buffalo Bills days Rob Johnson might be worth a look by some team. He could move around pretty good and had a decent arm. I never liked the guy, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Good call. The Argos deserve Rob Johnson. :cowboy:

Actually I was trying to help Hamilton find another QB. I was afraid they were going to pick up Spergon.
