Preseason Game 7: Calgary at BC

How many reps are given to the QBs competing for the #3 spot? And how many reps does Campbell give to Adams and/or Evans to get them ready for the season opener?

I’d give Evans 3 quarters and Vernon 1. Old school that way.

I think I’d give Vernon 2 quarters to get into form. He didn’t take any snaps in the first game. For the other 2 quarters, I don’t know. It depends on how seriously they’re looking at Erickson. But if they’re set with Adams, Evans, and Davis as 1, 2, 3, then I’d maybe give Evans and Davis each a quarter.

It could definitely go that way but I’m hoping to beat Calgary at home after what happened last year in pre-season

They cut Erickson this morning. B.C. has great depth (VA, Evans, Davis) but they’re all veterans. The fact they didn’t sign any rookie QBs to develop other than the now-departed Judd Erickson is a tad concerning.

Cool to see 74 Poissant dressing again–I like to see CJFL guys getting a look.

Should be interesting. Calgary’s run game was better than any of their QB’s last game. The Elks defenders must have easily had a dozen balls in their hands through the game.

Very interested to see how Maier and crowd show tomorrow.

Could be dangerous for the starter, but he really needs to get reps it seems.

Maier will operate behind an offensive line comprised entirely of backups, while Tre Odoms-Dukes and Luther Hakunavanhu are the only two projected starters who will dress in the receiving corps.

This is who I’ll be keeping an eye on:

CFL rookie Antonio Williams will start at running back, which could be an indication that he is first for the starting role. The five-foot-eleven, 215-pound ball-carrier had NFL stints with the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants following a college career at Ohio State and North Carolina. James Butler, who started for the club last season, is now a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

. . .

Jonathan Kongbo will also make his Lions debut after signing with the team following a year with the Denver Broncos. The native of Surrey, B.C. was a first-round pick of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2019 CFL Draft made 29 total tackles and three sacks over 26 games with the team.

This is the game I’m most interested in tomorrow. Not that the other game doesn’t matter but, Maier did not look great against the Elks looking to make the team in Calgary.

I am also interested in how well Poissant, Mizzell, and Eberhardt play against Calgary.

so bc got 15 in the first, then 3, then 8 points. BC won 26 to 22. check your math BC did not get 25 points.
