and the huge savings on beer - $5 drafts in the stadium at BMO, with the amount of beer some Ticat fans go through, that’s a lot of money saved.
Pus you can buy cheap tickets for Argo games and sit in seats that would cost you over $100 in Hamilton.

Yup . It sure was nice of the league to give us 9 home games this season .

Pinball has noticed that half of his games (7 of 14) are against the top three teams from 2019, including the four games against HAM.

When you're a bottom-feeder, there are no easy games.

memo to Pinball : We’re very sorry but upon further review you can’t play Ottawa 14 times this season . Best regards Commissioner Randy “Bobandy” Ambrosie .

That was always our in-joke when we went to curling bonspeils. If you look at the schedule, and think there are no easy teams, then you’re it.

The 1986 Grey Cup Champion Tiger-Cats had 10 players , 30 years or over . Perhaps that is the winning blend of vets and youngsters . * Ruoff played 9 games but Ozzie was in the Cup . Ruoff was 35 years old . Oz was 22 years old .

Pat Lynch (Van Zeyl is amazing )

Agree, the team has
positioned itself for a cup run by bringing back as many of these guys from 2019 as they could. Still quite a few guys on that list from the Austin era. Whether they win it all or not though, I’m sure 2022’s roster will look quite a bit different.

Still feel the need to acquire a kicker. Not that confident what we have is good enough.

Another amazing thing about that ‘86’ Champion team was the fact that there was 27 players on it that were on the two previous Cup losses from ‘84’ and ‘85’ . So there was a lot of incentive and motivation among all these vets to go out and kick some ass and take no prisoners and make no mistakes in capturing that ‘86’ ring .

That was one of the things I have to admit I liked about Al Bruno as HC was his loyalty to veteran players and commitment to continuity on the roster year after year .

That was also WELL before the 1-year contracts, there was always a “team option” year, etc…

I had this conversation with Gentle Ben Zambiasi today . He said this year’s veterans give the Cats an advantage early and late in the season if they come to camp in shape . He talked about Bernie Ruoff’s injury that year(1986) in the 9th game of his season.
The Cats directionally punted left/ right but never down the middle . Bernie’s teammates told him that if he shanked a punt to the wrong side , he was responsible to make the tackle . He did . He tried but hurt himself while trying to trip the returner . Ozzie took over and the rest is political science .
