I won’t invoke any witches for the pre-season games.
Bo looked okayish, Powell looked okayish, too many dropped passes, too many slips and slides, FAR too many BAD penalties that gifted Ottawa with FAR too many points.
Woods III vs Geiger is going to be a good competitiion for K/P returns. Both looked good.
Flint >> Vedvik in punting. Leigghio was perfect when needed, and apparently his kickoffs were better and deeper (thanks for @Crash for reporting on his longer run-up).
Unfortunately Woodmansey the Younger got hurt in the 4th quarter and was taken off on a cart. Nothing was shown on the stream, and no replays.
I think it’s fair to say that not many new players stood out for me. Mason on D seemed everywhere and made some good plays.
I don’t miss Domagala at all.
Bo and White had good chemistry.
The team needs to get more disciplined and make fewer penalties. This was a big concern the last few years too.
From the YEAH IT IS ONLY THE FIRST PRESEASON GAME DEPARTMENT.
special teams too many man. Ottawa keeps possession. Punt return TD……ouch.
I was woefully unimpressed with BO and Powell. They scream mediocre season ahead. Oline gave them oodles of time and still check downs, bad reads. Only one way to go for the QBs.
And I am in the one percent leave early. I tapped my wife on the shoulder with a few minutes left in the third Q and left.
I get it. Preseason. But that was tough to watch.
I will say if the Cats build their offence around a run game they have a chance but I think we might be in for a Blue jays like season. Low scoring.
First preseason game is always going to be sloppy. Especially since this is Milo’s first season having a training camp to install his offence. I doubt much of this will reflect what happens in the regular season.
I thought Bo looked really good.
Solid numbers.
A couple of drops.
Composed and eyes always downfield.
Check downs could be because of good coverage on guys downfield.
Mason was a stand out.
Flint better than Vedvik.
Powell was decent. Dropped TD pass was perfectly thrown.
Our backup running backs are slow hitting the gaps.
Penalty problems were significant. This must stop.
Vedvik’s out of bounds punt was concerning and Flint bettered him, by a bit, in punting average and longest punt. But, I expect the battle, for that job, will continue and Vedvik’s past experience, in also kicking and as Liegghio’s holder, I think, may give him the edge.
