Power Rankings: A late-season statement

TORONTO — Week 20 was supposed to be a cut-and-dry affair.

At this point in the season, you can generally trust the notions that you’ve conceived over the past 19 weeks. And through the last month or so, it seemed that the Calgary Stampeders were on track to make some bad-news, season-ending history. The Stamps had slumped to a 4-10 record on Sept. 30 and it felt like their 17-season playoff streak had gone past the point of being in jeopardy.

Of the three perennial bottom feeders (Edmonton, Saskatchewan and Ottawa) only Edmonton is on the upswing. After wandering the desert in search of a quarterback for way too many losing seasons, Tre Ford looks like the second coming of ‘Damon Allen’. Going into their winter hibernation I have to believe that Elks fans are cautiously optimistic about next year.

Didn’t we say that last year? :face_with_peeking_eye: :grimacing:

Hope you are right though.

Can’t wait until the start of the 2024 season when all the pundits will have Ottawa, Edmonton, and Saskatchewan finishing ahead of my Alouettes, just like they’ve done the past three years.

Seems to be working for you

With the O’Day comedy tour renewed (for another three seasons?!) I can’t speak for the other idiots but I for one will not under any circumstances be picking Saskatchewan to finish ahead of your Als.
