Post FA Power Rankings

Thought I’d start something fun here. 3DN posted their PR today. I opened the article and was happy to see my Riders at the top! (Insert green blush face here, what other cfl fans call the puking emoji). But after reading the rankings, I found my usual cooperative and non argumentative self getting rather opinionated and wanting to debate. What better place than here?!

No Trump, no Trudeau, no Poilievre Carney Musk Kennedy Freeland or Singh. No politics. No taxes. No tariffs.

No opinions other than mine (jokes!).

Let ‘er rip!!

I honestly quit reading after I saw who they placed at number # 1. Hilarious that the first sentence was a disclaimer from them that they weren’t pandering to Rider fans . :joy:

Here’s my hot take.

The last four standing last year (Argos, Bomber, Als and Riders) get top 4 position adjusted for signings, re-signings and FA signings since the GC.

Since then the Riders and Als have retained the most. In less familiar with team signing outside of FA other than Riders.

Argos were decimated. Bombers took a heavy hit and didn’t reload as well as I though they should.

Edmonton- wow! But all new and from the pits so hard to read.

Calgary - worse than last year other than QB

BC - even. Win some lose some and with Madill as back up they have a safety net or better.

Ottawa - shrug, I’m not convinced.

Hamilton - some serious losses and gains. I hope more gains than losses but they have major D issues.

My ranking is how they look today on paper, plus some judgement for massive turnover. IE elks look great so they could be 1 but they need time so I went 5

Here it goes.

1 - riders
2 - als
3 - lions
4 - hamilton
5 - elks
6 - bombers
7 - redblacks
8 - argos
9 - stamps

Man, I’m already yelling at myself :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I know right? lol. I loved it.
Have some fun and put down your ranking! Even if it’s as biased as Hamilton 1 through 9

How they have Ottawa at 3 I really don’t know.

Games are not won or lost with lists like this.

Thanks captain happy. Just having some fun here! You’re welcome to ignore the topic and keep your comments to yourself or better yet, post a list!

power rankings are weekly topics during the season and often in between with both CFL.ca, 3DN, TSN and other places. Kinda like the article I posted.

I think everyone knows that, though. It’s just a bit of offseason fun.

Exactly. The PR lists during the season mean nothing either but they generate a little banter, opinion and debate. It is fun to look at the teams today post FA and make a best guess.

BC may or may not count

With BC it all depends on what Rourke decides to show up . The one from two years ago or the one from last year . With Saskatchewan it all depends on when and where Harris falls down after tripping using his walker . Either that or if when and where his batteries run out in his portable scooter .

He got Energizers installed.
Ditto on Rourke. He will show up but can he play is the big Q

I really like this version, by division. I should’ve done that myself first.

Thanks for participating!

I hope it’s 2023 Rourke. Good for the league and fun as hell to watch.

I think Harris will be good for 12 games. Hoping Maier performs better this year than last. But yes, how healthy Harris is will be a major factor in the Riders year - like all other teams QB is key. Bo Collaros and Harris are all old.

We can all be experts for awhile. So here goes.

East

Mtl - IMO the best team in the league at this point.
Ham - Offence looks great. Defence - not so much.
Tor - Lots of change BUT still good OL, Kelly’s best in CFL, run game 2nd in league last year & added Brown. D not so good.
Ott - Looks good on Offence. But starting over with complete t/o @ DB. Never been a fan so maybe I’m biased.

West

SK - sorry, not a fan Rider but IMO better than last year’s squad that saw 1st place blow away.
Edm - brought in groups of players who know each other. Almost every one has some prior experience with the coaches there. New playbook, getting to gel shouldn’t be an issue. Too much talent to ignore IMO.
BC - improved OL, good REC, RB - not bad on D. Toss up with Bombers.
Wpg - Repeat - EVERYBODY knows the Bombers have issues with pass protection &, over on DL, bringing pressure. Only change on OL is losing the youngest guy, an All-Star. Only real change on DL is adding another 33 yr old coming off a brutal year. At some point carrying so many old guys is going to bite you. IMO - this is the year.
Cal - there is some talent on Offence. D is a mess IMO. Clearly a rebuild.

I can live with that.
