I didn’t say anything about less money - Cortez’s salary is set out in his contract. I’m talking about a demotion to a position of lesser responsibility and authority within the team (I’m assuming such a move would be allowable under his contract as long as his salary remained unchanged) .
I’m suggesting with his years of experience and level of notoriety within professional football in Canada and the US, he may find such an arrangement unacceptable regardless of the money and seek an amicable severance. I believe such settlements do occur and Cortez probably knows he would likely not be out of work for long.
