Unfortunately the way the league is set up, it doesn’t account for what the fans want. To change playoff format you need 7 out of 9 teams to agree to it. The eastern teams don’t want change because right now they are guaranteed 2 home playoff dates. A playoff change that doesn’t involved an advantage to them won’t pass.

Actually I think that might be the formula for amending the constitution. Must also represent 50% of the population.

I also don’t think the league/sponsors etc want all of its playoff attention concentrated in one part of the country.
