Poll - how do you usually view CFL forums - in Mobile or Desktop?

…is there an app for that?

I also use my phone as an answering machine.

But for a few family members and a friend on occasion, in 2022 I stopped answering the phone and I hardly ever make calls unless it is actual business.

And why did it take them so damn long to roll out customer service via chat!?

It was my plan to simply avoid making or taking calls in 2018 after too much time on the phone, but that did not work and is another story.

Text me or e-mail me people. They have not been new features on your effen phones for decades now.

Is the timeline scroller something other than the scroll bar which takes minutes to scroll to the top or the bottom of a long thread?

This might help. When you press on the long button on the scroll bar, you can scroll very fast up and down to any point of the entire thread just the same as on a PC or laptop.

Also within a thread, and there is a help desk topic about this, you can easily search to find the post you seek by typing in key words.

Via either method, you can eliminate any need for long scrolling.

also if you click/tap on the replies number in topic list view you get this pop up which gives you the topic date range and lets you go to the top (OP) or bottom (most recent post) of the topic (thread).

But yer phone …a super computer it is.

I use a laptop but I have the timeline scroller which you speak of. Does that mean I am on mobile view? I ask because in describing it you said " just the same as on a PC or laptop."

many desktop screens won’t even let you access the mobile versions. my tablet does but not my laptop. you can tell by looking in your hamburger drop-down menu down at the bottom - if it says “About” and “Keyboard shortcuts” you’re in desktop. if it says “About” and “Mobile View”, you are in desktop view on a mobile capable device like a tablet (tapping Mobile View will take you to mobile view):

if the Menu slides from the left of the screen instead of dropping down, and it says “About” and “Desktop view” at the bottom, then you are currently using mobile view:

Thank you, I was really afraid I wouldn’t understand your answer - but it was very clear. I am in desktop and with the majority here that ‘mobile’ sucks.

i’m glad that made sense. it is a bit confusing, especially when you use multiple devices like i do. and yes i agree, mobile does suck. but there are folks who almost exclusively use it.

just so people know, the biggest hint to which view you are in are the font sizes and hamburger menu - it drops down on the right in desktop view but slides from the left in mobile view. in mobile view, the font sizes are also noticeably larger and the categories page has a totally simplified layout.

You are doing great work again here so thank you again.

As often as we have heard hamburger menu in the last week, am I the only one who feels like we should get some free hamburger and fries out of all this?

haha i hate the name of it but that is what it is called in programming lexicon anytime it’s a menu with horizontal lines (usually 3). i also sometimes call it the navigation menu because that is what it really is. but some people confuse that with the top bar links. and you’re welcome, thanks for the compliment.

ok i think this warrants a user interface nomenclature and reference.
