Playoff QB CONTROVERSIES!!!!??

Wow, what an end to the season with more questions raised than answered. Man the CFL is exciting and unpredictable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are some of the qb dilemmas in my view:

  1. Dickenson or Printers to start for BC in the western final??? ( See my earlier post on that one)

  2. Nealon Greene or Marcus Crandall to start against the Als. Nealon looked good at the end of the game. Marcus has got it done in most games and kept them competitive and close in the losses too!

  3. Jason Maas or Ricky Ray for the Eeeeeeekimos. Ray has not thrown a td pass in how many quarters (20 I think) and throw some awful ducks in the loss to Calgary. Maas comes in and throws a td immediately. Why on earth did he not play more or at least some of the time this year (remember Cavillho going down in the playoffs last year and a qb who had not played much at all having to step in = loss for the Als. You have to play to keep sharp.

It seems only Calgary and Toronto have clearly established who their number one guy is going into the playoffs. Maybe they should be the odds on favourites to be in the Grey Cup????????????????

THERE IS NO QUESTION HERE IN SASK GREENE IS THE STARTER!!!!!!!

AS FOR BC WE HAVE SEEN BOTH PRINTERS AND DICKENSON FAIL SO IT WON'T MAKE MUCH DIFFERENCE. I SAY USE PRINTERS SINCE LAST YEAR DICKENSON LOST SO PRINTERS CAN LOSE ALSO SO THE FANS WON'T BE ABLE TO BLAME WALLY FOR NOT USING PRINTERS.

AND USE RAY IN CALGARY BECAUSE MAAS IS A PLAYOFF CHOKER WHO IS WINLESS IN PLAYOFF GAMES. RAY IS THE MAN TO USE HEADING INTO CALGARY. RAY IS A PROVEN QB IN THE PLAYOFFS WITH A 3-1 RECORD AND A GREY CUP RING.

Anwser:

  1. it's doesn't matter which one plays, both will play and fail, BC is 100% done

  2. Crandall! I love him! NO NOT LIKE THAT!!! he is a great QB!

  3. Ray, Maas is too rustly to be good at this point, and Ray maybe be good enough to take Edmonton to the GC, but winning it is someelse beyond him.

Greene? What has he done to make him the starter? If I'm Barrett I start Crandell.

Crandell starts over Greene...No brainer there
Maas Starts over Ray...I dont think Maciocia has the balls to do it.. But it just might be the Jolt they need....Hey wait!! on second thought PLAY RAY
Printers over Dickenson...Dizzy Dave I think is still feeling the effects

Hey Turkeybend, you stole my thunder because I was thinking about the same thing, but maybe not as a controversy but as a dilemma, since most coaches like to go with the hot hand. Here's what I would do, and I know that Wally Buono, Danny Barrett, and the Eskimos coach aren't consulting with me to aid them in their decision.
For the BC Lions, I would start Dave Dickinson, just because he's finally healthy again and he was playing great before he got hurt. If he is shakey, then bring in Casey Printers right away.
For Saskatchewan, I would start Marcus Crandall, just because he's the one that got them to where they are right now, even though Nealon Greene did play well against the BC Lions; but go to Nealon if there is any problem, even early in the game.
Finally for the Edmonton Eskimos, there is no question I would go with Ricky Ray and stay with him unless he is horrible through 2.5 quarters, then go with Jason Maas.
Remember these are just my opinions and you can always disagree with them if you choose.

I agree, Crandell over Greene. Assuming these two had the same amount of turnovers in a game, the Crandell led team would likely get more points on the board.

If I were Edmonton, I would be edgy right now. Their controversy is big as Maas looks good with a brief performance over a lagging Ray. Who do you go with, a guy that had a good playoff run in previous years or a possibly more vibrant Maas that might just pick it up in the playoffs.

To me, Printers is better. He adds one more element (running and evading) into the mix.

3 words for this sistuation: Any Given Sunday

Sometimes starting a new QB is done on a hunch and predicated on the reality how the starter has been "cold'. Therefore, I would definitely go with Greene, DD & Jason Maas.

OMG, I never thought id say this to KK but I 100% agree!

i agree with what you think to KK- except for the "i love crandall". Maas looked really sharp tonight and if we had any coach other than macciocca, we would have seen more of maas throughout the season. If we start Ray again next week, as macciocas sure to do, i think the esks will lose again.

If you use Maas I'll have to change my pick to Calgary.
